I just got a new AMD K-6 2 @ 500 MHZ processor and installed it in my Socket-7 type Mobo. When i turn the computer on, it shows the Video card info, then "Award Modular Bios v4.51PG" then "-MMX CPU at 16MHZ" then it checks my memory then resets and does it all over again in an endless loop. At the bottom of the screen it displays an identification string for either the Mobo or the Bios (i think it's the mobo but im not sure) that looks like this: *somedate*-VXPro+-USB-Ultr-2ASLDH09C-00. I ran a google search on the exact string and it didn't turn up anything. Then i cut out the numbers at the end and got a bunch of stuff in forums that don't really help me. The core voltage for both my new and old CPU's is 3.3v but the other v is different, something like 2.2 and 2.9v. I might have to change a jumper or something on the mobo but for all i know the dog ate the documentation. There's no kind of identifier on the board itself either, but im really sure that when i had the docs they said it supported MMX.
Any suggestions on what i should do would be appreciated.
Thanx.
