Hello guys,

I am trying to save a copy of my cisco 2960 ios to tftp server.

I am trying the following commands,

copy flash tftp
its asks for an image name ([c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE2])
then ip address for the tftp server

then I get the following error message :
%Error reading flash:c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE2 (Is a directory)

any idea anyone?

show flash output:
Directory of flash:/

2 -rwx 1309 Mar 1 1993 00:19:11 +00:00 config.text
3 -rwx 5 Mar 1 1993 00:19:11 +00:00 private-config.text
6 drwx 192 Mar 1 1993 00:06:08 +00:00 c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE2

32514048 bytes total (24802816 bytes free)

Thanks

if you look at your output you will see the "drwx" the d indicates a directory. I don't believe TFTP will allow you to move an entire directory like that, you will probably have to use the archive command to back it up to either ftp or tftp server.

thanks for the reply

is there any way to move it so that it no longer in a directory so that it can be copied and backup?

yep, when you download the image from cisco get the bin file not the tar. If you do a "cd c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE2" from the command prompt and do another dir, you should see the bin file.
