I Have V11, Clan board and ASA software. How do I approach this? What information and or services do I need from my IT dept.? Where can I find a set-up guide for this?

Attitude is everthing.

You'll need an IP address for the CLAN card, the subnet for the network and the default gateway.

I'll have to look for notes as to what you need to get the clan card going in the switch, been a while. :D

From the IT Dept. you will need to get a static IP address, the subnet mask that is used, a port on an IP switch, and the default router/gateway address. Once you have collected that information you can start to administer the C-LAN board in the Definity.
1) 'change node-name ip' where you assign a name and ip address to the C-LAN board
2) 'change ip-interface' where you define the board to the Definity using the name assigned in step 1.
3) 'add data-module x' where x is a non-did extension number. The data module type is 'ethernet' and use port 17 of the slot that the TN799 is plugged into.
4) 'change ip-services' is where you define what functions can run on the C-LAN board. For remote adminintration use 'SAT'. Within ASA you define the IP address and port number used in steps 1 and 4.

IP SERVICES

Something that I didn't see mentioned Snapper that I ahve on mine, is have your IT guy's put this on a v-lan. This will give you one extra layer of protection from hackers.

I have the C-Lan Card and the ASA software. I think there is supposed to be a cable that goes from the card to the network. What is that cable called?

Attitude is everthing.

The cable is regular ehternet cat-5 with a RJ-45 connector. The same cable used to connect your compute

I have an Amphenol end at the switch side (Back side of the C-Lan card). Is there some kind of adapter that goes there before the RJ45?

Attitude is everthing.

yeah, you need the ip media processor adapter to get 100mbps, otherwise you can use a 259a and get 10mbps. Call your vendor and get that black adapter for 100mbps.

I'm having trouble connecting. any ideas?

What is having trouble connecting? IP softphone?

In the future everything will work...

ASA via TCP/IP
