I have a question. I currently have a 8400D telephone that has a button connected to a tech support hunt group. I want to somehow connect an analog line that is hooked up to a light and bridge it to this huntgroup but I cant. It only allows me to bridge it to a regular extension and not a vdn or huntgroup. Is there any other ways to go about it so that the light conneced to the analog line will flash when this button that is connected to a huntgroup in the tech support group rings. Any help is appreciated.

If you just want to light a (ring indicator) light from the analog extension, make two changes in the Hunt Group definition. Change Calls Warning Threshold to '1' and enter the analog extension's port as the Port for Calls Warning. When there is at least one call waiting answer by that hunt group, the analog port will ring.

What If I need 5 people to see this light. I was thinking about setting up 5 analog ports where the people are with each a light to light up when there is someone in the que of that hunt group. How would I set it up if I need to set up 5 people with it on 5 analog ports....

You need to follow palee's hints and get a UNIVERSAL RING RELAY, Gives you a dry closure when a phone line rings. This is the relay to use to operate a light or horn when a phone line is ringing.

Couldnt you use a pick up group to flash a light on each handset when the hunt group gets a call

I did follow palees hint and it works but only for one extension. With a Universal ring relay will that let me connect 5 other people in different cubicles with this option for the light to flash when the call comes in connecting them to a analog port. I need to somehow bridge it with something like the VDN Extension or Huntgroup extension so that it will light up but when bridging it only allows you to bridge it to a regular extension and not a VDN or Huntgroup.

Yes you are correct and it works but what im trying to accomplish here is to use something that will attract attention . The light on the telephone set is too small and if the person is busy and not looking at his telephone set, he wont know that there is a call waiting unless he keeps looking at the phone.

yxlor,

If you follow palees hint and get an analog port administered at the first page of the hunt-group form it will let the analog port receive a ring signal when someone is in the queue.

Now if you attach a Universal Ring Relay to the port you will have a switch with a dry closure. Now you could use this switch to turn somethin on. In your case the switch will turn on 5 lights, you will need to do some wiring but it will work.

Something I have seen is that in a call center there were these flashing blue lights on the ceiling. These will attrack some attention

That would be an option. I was hoping to not have to run any wire or cable and just link it to an already available analog port already. The problem with running wire or cable is that the people is kinda far apart from each other. One person is located in one end of the building and all the other is located in the center but with each a seperate office so that is why I was hoping that I can do it by using a available analog port which will make my life easier. But if it has to come down to running wires then I guess I might have to.

Usually for phones there is a 4 pair CAT 3 cable run to every station and the phones typically use 1 or 2 pair off of the cable. You can split off one of the unused pairs and use for your analog connection. This will keep you from running more cable.

yes analog port I have but I right now I just cant link all 5 of them on the first page of the hunt group. I can only link one analog port to the hunt group to make it ring. I need to somehow link all 5 ports together to the hunt group or of some sort that all 5 will ring when there is a caller in the Que.

If you do not ant to run wire let the dry closure of the Universal Ring Relay make a short bewteen te TIP and RING of an analog port.
The analog port has a hot-line to a station with port X.
The station with port X has a Cover Path toards a Coverage Answer Group. The Coverage Answer Group has 5 members, all analog.

Would this be helpfull?
