How do I connect my computer to the com port of my norstar unit? I am using the Norstar Voice Mail 4.0 Desktop Client Software. The software wants to connect over an I.P. address! Thanks a-lot.

I believe you are going to want to get the NAM onto your network instead of a direct connection. You can do this if the NAM is in a headless mode(no monitor, keyboard or mouse) and using the 3 IP lite disks that came with your unit. Or by putting a monitor, keyboard and mouse on the NAM and using the GUI to input the address directly. You will be giving the NAM the IP address your IT department has assigned it. It's a pretty simple matter. I believe the readme files go over this pretty well on the IP Lite disks. After getting the NAM on the network and administering Desktop Messenging, the other Desktop messaging clients(seats) can make use of it. darnold@americaii.com

I do not have a NIC in the NAM, nor do I have the three disk you are talking about. All I have is the client software. What type of NIC do I need to put in it? I am the IT guy and I would prefer to have it on the network. Thanks again for all of your help.

Identify your NAM...go to FAQ on this site to do it.... darnold@americaii.com
