Hi All,

I'm in a branch office with an Avaya IP office 500, which routes its calls over IP, via a Cisco 1800 series Integrated Services Router.

Presently, there is a Netgear FS524S inbetween these two devices, but it's fans are failing, and I'm wondering if it is actually required. The set up is literally Cisco > Netgear > IP office, so the netgear only has 2 cables in it!

Can I get away with connecting the Cisco directly to the IP office without a switch inbetween?

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

Thanks Amriddle.

Am I to asumme that I'll need a crossover cable / crossover adapter to link them directly?

Thanks,

Mike.

No, they normally work with a standard patch lead :)

the cisco port is likely to be using FE/1 for the LAN, which is Fast Ethernet and a switched port....
