I have a customer that is getting 2 maxed out 500 V2 and they will be in the same lan room. The IT people doesn't understand why I still need a VPN to get them to talk to each other. I have the SCN license I just then need the VPN right?. I was thinking though being that they are on the same network would I not even need a VPN and just need the SCN. This is my first 2 500's going side by side. I've done plenty SCN system's but they were on different network due to being at different locations. Thanks for your help.

You dont need a vpn just connect them in to the same lan and configure like any other SCN

You need a patch cord and networking licenses. VPN is used to provide security across the public internet. Before doing this, you may want to get a trained business partner involved, someone who understands your particular situation and can provide pertinent advice.

I agree and that is being done. thanks.

If you do it like that, you won't be able to have the same numbering plan between the two. Each system needs a unique plan, and can't be the same. As long as that part doesn't matter then you should be good to go.

Yes, they will have 5 different departments between the two with different dial plans. I thought that was they way to do it, just wanted to verify and my Dist. tech support said had to be a VPN. Just didn't make sense.

Personally we set it up WAN to WAN port in a training environment and have networked 6 Systems through H323/SCN. Works like a charm.

So you have 3000+ extensions in one location? I can't imagine why you'd need two IPOs.

Why not go with something more suited for the scenario?

where does he say that reread the thread

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

This job was specked by the county and the equipment is what they want. for now it will be 300 phones but want growth for 522 total. When setting it up Wan to WAN what the benefits to that instead of using the LAN port?

It does not matter so lan to lan is an option too but sometimes this means more points of failure if connected through a network.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

They are going to want voice mail to email, so it would have to be connected to there network.

Yes but that does not mean that you need to use the lan port for the SCN.
But if you have VMPro then it is easier to put it on the customer lan :)
