Hello again,

Well i have a field in a form, and if someone was to change the value in the field for a record i want a message box coming up to warn them or confirm that they are about to change the value.

The reason i ask this is because i have a field called "Server Name" and then i have the field again on the same form but as a combo box so the user can select from a drop down box, or type in a server name and it will automatically go to that record. Well people have a tendancy, when searching, to type in the server name they want in the actual "Server Name" field not the combo box ,which will change the value in the field for that record.

So any ideas about the message box or any suggestions for maybe a better way i can go about doing this?

Ok, i had an idea where instead of having the Server Name combo box on the form, i would have a button which then asks me to enter the server name to find. This will eliminate the problem of typing in the search information on the same form page.

Now i tried it using an access command button, and the "find record" command works well but it has too much information on it which might confuse the users.

Is there a way just to have the find option with out all the extra options such as search, match and all those checkboxes?

Well i'm working with Access 97, so the file doesn't work.

I'll save it to a 97 version. Where can send it?

"I know what you're t'inkin', ma petite. Dat Gambit... still de suave one, no?"

Actually, just send it to nice_n_ezy@hotmail.com

Thanks so much.

Its so hard to find a good search option in access. Most of the options such as find and filter have their flaws that will make it too confusing for the user.

From what i have read from other member responses to yuor search options they are supposed to be very useful, so here's hoping that they'll help someone else.
