We started having problems with our company directory in our Startalk system yesterday. A couple people were told by callers that they got a message saying that their name was not found in the company directory. We checked the system and found that they did have a mailbox and they were configured to be listed in the directory. We deleted one of the people's mailboxes and recreated it to see if that would fix the problem. Once we did that, the company directory stopped working entirely! When someone calls in and presses #, they get a message saying the company directory is not available. Calls still transfer properly using the CCR menu and by typing in the person's extension - it's only the company directory that is not working.

Any ideas what happened and how we can fix it?

Thanks.

Try F983 enter your log 1020000 (3 digit exts), 12000 (2 digit exts). When you get into the voicemail Admin. press 4 on the dialpad, press next, and make sure the company directory did not get disabled. If this does not work I'd reset the Startalk voicemail.

Option 4 didn't work. It just asked for a password. Is option 4 only available in the Flash version of Startalk? We have an older Startalk system, not the Flash version. Other thoughts? Thanks.

Reboot/ reset the vmail. MRoberts

If it is the older version Startalk I'd have to agree with MRoberts, reboot that thing. The option 4 could have been any other digit with the older version, I'm not sure, you might want to try other digits. One will eventually work.

Thanks for the suggestions, but none worked probably because we have an old Startalk system. We ended up reloading the entire system from diskettes, losing all of the voice mail messages, and having everyone record their greetings again. :-( Not very appealing, but our system is working properly again. I just hope it doesn't happen again. We just went to full time automated attendent a month ago so we're a lot more dependent on Startalk now than we used to be.

If it does happen again, you may want to consider replacing the unit with a newer Voice mail either a Flash or NAM depending on your needs.
