Company Directory - Name doesn't match extension

We needed to relocate 2 staff, so based on a prior post I used Set Relocation and all seemed fine. I admit that prior to that I messed around with the DNs and got into some trouble, but first got those back to where they were, THEN did set relocation, waited 3 minutes, unplugged phones, moved them and voila, success. HOWEVER, when calling in and utilizing the company directory, when spelling the name of one of the staff who moved, you get the voicemail of the OTHER staff member! So I deleted their voicemail, then set it up again hoping that would work. It didn't. Is there some way to get into the directory and fix this? HELP.

The Company Directory plays the spoken name the user records when the mailbox is intialized.
Sometimes set relocation will cause havoc with the voicemail. You might need to give the VM a reboot.

Sounds serious. If I reboot VM will it delete everything or wreak further havoc? Is this where I should call in someone who can program this darn thing?

No, you should be OK.
It just seems to have the memory locations out of whack.
What kind of VM is it?

You can log in using F983, and then press 9 to determine the type/version.

It's Flash v. 2.1.00
actually have never rebooted VM. Not sure how to do that.

Well ... you may not be OK.
In my experience, Flash have been notoriously known to intermittently default configuration on loss of power.
Feeling Lucky?

To reboot you simply pull the plug.
There is no shutdown or restart command for the flash.
Leave it unplugged for a minute, then plug it back in.
This is truly a plug and pray device.

I'm not pulling the plug! You don't live close to Portland, OR do you? Ha ha. I figured there should be a way to enter the company directory and make sure everything matches up ... like it doesn't list 2 different DNs for MB and Ext or something ... I don't have a printer attached so can't print a report.

Is there a way to enter the directory and see/make these changes if necessary? I can't think of anything else to do, and I don't dare unplug the VM. I'm definitely not feeling lucky.

You can try this ...
Log in, choose Mbox and change.
Input one of the mailboxes having the problem.
Next through the prompts until you come to company directory and choose N instead of yes.
Do this to both of the problem mailboxes.
Then wait a while, log back in an turn just one of them on.
Call in and see if the directory plays the correct spoken name when you spell it out.
Only thing I can think of besides a reboot.

tried it, no luck. Even deleted voicemail again and re-added it and nothing. In the company directory when spelling the last name of one, you get the extension of the other. But with their DID and dialing in from the outside, you're connected to the right person-their numbers are correct and you get their correct voicemail, same with dialing within the office with just 3-digit extension.

Driving me crazy. I was hoping there's another way to deal with this if anyone has any other ideas (other than rebooting).

Thanks.

More craziness - when dialing in and hit # for directory, then # for list of names, the two people have swapped positions even in the list! One person who's name started with an A is now occupying the person's spot whose name started with an S. So the directory isn't even in alphabetical order now (with these two people at least).

I'm stumped.

Bummer! That is why auto set relo is affectionately called 'auto set corruption'. Voice mail pointer issues seem to be the most common set relo 'fallout', but I have seen sets shut down, calls going to the wrong place,..... SD is right; shutting down the Flash may correct the pointers or may be the last time you see it running.

Flash has no hardrive like the Mini, so no fear it won't come up, and very little fear it will default. Flash's default on power spikes or if you drop it (yes it happened to me). The only way to fix is reboot the Flash, just make sure to count to 10, then plug back in. btw, I always pray, maybe that's why I'm lucky.

To be safe, have the users check their messages before the reboot. Odds are, you'll be ok, but if the vm does default, at least you won't lose anything but time reprogramming.

Sounds like you need to do a reintall command to clear the bugs and re program from scratch.
Flash should only take an hour at most to reprogram.

Hilarious, if the reboot doesn't work (a 99% guarantee) and it defaults, then follow curly's plan.
