Companion Problems 2-Please Read 1

Here is the statement that was made:

"I hope you get the Companion customers fixed up soon, Nortel announced the Companion line is being Manufacture Discontinued, with limited support. The process will take a few years, but the fact remains, Companion is on the way out."

Since I have a MAJOR proposal in a number of locations, I need this verified ASAP.
If anyone can provide more information, it is urgently needed. If this information is false, or can not be verified, then it should not have been posted.

Yes, it is true, it will be retired in phases. After May 6, 2002, orders for new systems are not to be available but you can still get equipment for add-ons and maint but that will cease after March 31, 2003, the information is detailed, if you are a Nortel distributor, contact your DSM. This is not misinformation.

njphones, get Product Bulletins 2002-030 and 2002-031 from your DSM. They are official documents from Nortel.

The Nortel announcement does not provide any information as to Nortel's future plans for providing a replacement/substitute for the Companion functionality, but I think they will offer something later during the process.

"This Retirement is due to a growing concern of future FCC/Industry Canada spectrum utilization policies, reduction in the overall UPCS industry sales, growing dominance of 802.11 based technologies, and in part to the lack of future availability of key Companion product components."

I also have problems with my Companions. I have a system with appr. 180 units (both C4040 and C4020). I cant get hold of any C4040 anymore, and had to buy C4020's - a crappy unit.

Anyway, I'm trying out the Siemens Gigaset 4010 on my DECT-system, and it works fine - exept one problems (read my message from 040402). I have a Meridian OP61C.

Do you know when the C4050 comes out?
