CO Lines on analog phones 1

Same system, different question. I cannot figure out how to get dial tone for outbound calls on the analog ports of a combo card on an IP Essential Partner Version. The training specifically says 'analog phones can't have line appearances' but I can't figure out how else to give them dial tone. I have 8 channels on a PRI, which are programmed as line appearances on the ETR phones. I temporarily have my polycom plugged into one of those extensions so it can make and receive calls.

The other area of confusion I am experiencing is that in the Partner edition installation manual, it refers to the combo cards, but clearly says they support 6 digital phones and 4 trunks - with no mention of the analog ports. The training material says the boards all count 6 stations, except the two skipped for PFT on the ETR board, but then later states the analog ports on the combo card can be used for analog phones. And if you plug one into the system, it counts them, and incoming calls ring, but I am having the above-mentioned difficulty with outbound. Has anyone deployed an analog phone via a combo card? If so, how did you pull outbound dial tone? Thanks in advance!

I am soooo happy we don't have Partner systems here. Sorry.... but I really am happy for the lack of them.

Turn off the power (some think it the best thing you can do on a Partner system). Now the analog power fail ports on the combo card can make outgoing calls. That's what power fail means.

Meanwhile analog extensions dial 9 for outgoing line.

I wonder if the email address for a user to use voicemail email is set under the user settings for the user.

This is not a Partner. It is IP Office Essential Partner Version. And the PFT ports are not on the combo card, they are on the ETR card and my question isn't regarding them. And I already tried dial 9... it doesn't work.

So.. not that I begrudge anyone a star - but I am confused about how turning off power on an IP Office allows a phone in a combo card to dial 9.....when the PFT is on the ETR board....

Strangely enough, when creating an off-line configuration: there is no choice for a 2500/analog phone. The stations on the phone/analog ports default to two intercom buttons and the number of line buttons to match the configuration. Seems like the software doesn't support the phone ports. Hum?????

Avaya position is "it is working the way it is supposed to" - which translates to the analog ports on a combo board don't work at this time. In the training it mentions them, in the install manual and the config they are kindof ignored. You can receive calls but not place them since you can't assign lines. I resolved my issue by putting the fax and polycom on two of the ETR ports and adding a couple of 1416's to the combo board - oh well - its always fun to be at the beginning of something "new."

With regard to age of the Partner ACS - introduced a long time ago... upgraded throughout the years....R8 was the last version less than two years ago...I believe it is the most widely used phone system installed ever with over 1,000,000 units in place. Still used nationally by just about everyone from the Federal Government to Denny's so they're gonna be around for a while. So 'ancient' is probably a little harsh

Have you tried configuring Automatic Line Selection the way you would a classic Partner? When selecting lines, do intercom then CO lines in order that you'd like them available.

Try installing a Phone 2 module or Phone 8 module: the analog ports on the combo cards cannot be programmed to access multiple lines as you could on the Partner ACS.

so what happens when you lift the handset on the analog phone?
don't you get internal dial tone?

dial internal extn number of 9 for an outside line (works in IPOffice mode anyway)

sorry I am in the uk so we don't have any dealings with Partner mode & do not intend using the new "Muppet" mode introduced in V7 either.

We have enough problems trying to fix the problems caused by the abomination known as line appearance
