Has anyone heard of a way that a customer using IP500 R7 with VM Pro could set up a WAV file... in this case, a chime, to sound at certain times during the day thru the speakers of all the phones. This is for a school that wants to sound for classroom changes and they dont want 2 different devices in the rooms. Someone said maybe using a post dial action on VM Pro????

No, you can't have this automted. This is the job of a PA system not the telephone system :)

I should add that in schools, intercom system are considered life safety and the intercoms speakers on phones are not. The announcments and chimes cannot be heard in hallways or noisy classrooms (what, a noisy classroom?)using the phone speakers.

You can if you have VMpro;

-Create a shortcode *95 / Voicemail Collect / "PostDial"
-Create a shortcode 81XX / Dial Paging / 1N (if you extensions or HuntGroups are 1xx)
-Create a Hotdesk user and forward it to *95
-Create a Module in VMPro insert a PostDial
Tick PostWaveFile
Enter path to wav file
to extenion 8100 for paging on extension group 100
Now goto Server Queues/Alarm in VMpro, add any alarm you like on what time/day you like.

You can leave out the paging short code if you have analog bels or extensions, you can also set the ring time in the alarm part.

PS; Use the Hotdesk user as the "target" in the alarms

Bas,

The alarm works fine at the appropriate times, however, it is ringing the phones, not coming across the speaker. What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance!

Make the target for the PostDial PAGE:100 where 100 is the group of phones to page, the shortcodes for the paging is not needed, I just tested this and it works :)

Phone that are busy are busy.
You do not want that a page goes through while you are on a call.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

riddle or bas,

would this work on IPO 6.1.5 and VMPRO 6.1.16?

I am trying to test it on my switch and it is still ringing the phone. I created a module with a post dial action, and under specifc, I checked post wave file and play out a looped wav file, I browsed and selected the wav file, then for "to extension", i selected PAGE:205 which is my page group. I have the alarm pointed to 150 which is a hot desk user, which has uncond CFWD set to *95 which is a SC for voicemail collect with the tel number that contains the name of the VM module.
I am so tired I NEED SLEEP!

Start testing with the 81XX (just to try to page over the speakers). If that works put a wav file in the start point of the post dial, just to see when you dial *95 you hear that wav file. When you hear the wav file is should say "message send" it then should start to page in 10 sec or so. When you have that working start with the alarms in the VMPro, it takes 40 seconds or so after the time has past to trigger the post dial.

Bas,

I can do 8100 and page the phones no prob, however when the alarm goes, it turns the speaker on but does not play the wav I selected. It doesnt say message send either. Any ideas?

Do you have a SC like *95 / Voicemail Collect / PostDial (or a module name from VMPro)? What happens when you dial *95?

I do have that SC. When I press it says "Forwarded" and it activates the paging group and the speakers of the phone come on, however no other wav plays. I will need to take a look in debug and see if it is trying to play the wav. Maybe everything is working except the wav.

riddle or BAS,

Here is what i have... maybe one of you could tell me what I am doing wrong.

Extensions are 1xx, huntgroup that contains the 2 speakerphones is 205 - I have programmed a SC *95/voicemail collect/"PostDial",
Created a SC 81XX/Dial Paging/205, created a hot desk user (x150) and forwarded to *95, created a VM Pro module called "PostDial", inserted a post dial action, under the specific tab, i checked post wave file and play looped wav file, I selected the appropriate wav, and under to extension, I have 8100. For the alarm, I am setting the target for 150. When the alarm triggers, it turns the speakers of the phones on for the alarm time but does not play the wav file. If I press *95 it says "forwarded" audibly and the speakers come on the phones but still no wav plays.

Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks

>I selected the appropriate wav

Is this a custom recorded wav or a standard system one?

At a guess, the WAV has the wrong properties to play correctly in VMpro.

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Export the module from vmpro as a mod file, open it with notepad and paste it here.

I would untick the play looped part, that isn't relevant for Paging anyway, if you select that doorbell2.wav file in the entry prompt section can you play it over a handset?
