I have a Norstar ICS Compact w/Norstar Voice Mail 2. A while back I was able to change one of my Class of Services. I was able to change the Password Expiry to "0" so that users wouldn't have to change their passwords. For the life of me, I can't remember how I did it. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thank you,
Volaris

Hi,

It sounds like you have a NAM (Norstar Applications Module). If you do, you need Norstar Voicemail Manager software on your PC and you have to connect to the unit either through a crossover cable to the NIC card inside or, if it doesn't have a NIC card; through a direct serial connection.

Also, the Voicemail Manager option has to be enabled on the NAM. To see if it is:

Press F983
At Log: prompt enter password
Press 4
You should see your options available on the display and hopefully NVM Manager will be one of them. Good luck!

I do not have Voice Mail Manager software and when I did F983,4, there were only 2 items on there, Voice Mail (Y) and Directory (Y). I have a NAM and I can connect up to it through the serial port and get to an interface which has a selection for Access Server and Norstar Voice Mail. I have the passwords but the only thing it will do for me (pertaining to COS) is list the settings of the different COS's. There is no place to change them. I thought this is where I changed it before. Any other thoughts?

Thank you,
Volaris

That's where you want to be. Bring up the COS you need to edit, go to password expiry and type in new parameter. It will take the change.
