I have a Cisco AS5350XM Router running IOS 12.4.15T3 and added 6 PVDM-264 in a module. When i look at the show voice dsp active, i only see 48 DSP. I think there is something i am missing like some configuration. I have looked around google and dont seem to find anything that can help point me in the right direction to get the DSP to work. There is a DS 3 connected to it and what i am looking to do is go from SIP to ISDN and for the dsp to do transcoding from g729 for the DS3.

Can someone possibly point me in the right direction????

Thanks
Brian

I dont see anything that stands out. If I recall, there is normally a module name in the show hardware command. See below the output.

try this command:
show diag

Do you see your DSP module in there?

So as you can see, it appears that there is only 48 DSP when there should be like 360+ DSP at the G711 codec.

To error is human.....if the machine doesnt work, then KICK IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

all that means is that you are using 48 DSP resources. Rest are unassgined?
Do you have 48 channels used for voice PRIs?
Or perhaps you need to add the rest to your DSP farm.

Right....But as you can see, I dont see the hardware at all. I cant create a DSP farm unless the device sees the hardware. I have shutdown the router and reseated the DSP and the module to no avail. I do see this in the Show Run command that has nothing with it and have placed them into a dsp farm but still dont see them when i do the show voice dsp command

voice-card 1
dsp services dspfarm
!
voice-card 2
dsp services dspfarm
!
voice-card 3
dsp services dspfarm

I assumed that these were the extra dsp added to the router by the module but they dont seem to show up....maybe I am missing something in the config to get them installed and configured.

To error is human.....if the machine doesnt work, then KICK IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since you need to use them for transcoding, you need to add a transcoding specific dsp resource, then register it to where you need to use it.
Assuming there is not a cisco call manager in the picture, you will need to register the DSP resources on the cube itself.

So yes you are missing quite a bit of configuration to get this working properly.

Look up configuring transcoding resources on a cisco CUBE.

Ok next question. We are not using CUBE. So is the configuration the same????

Even though we are not using SCCP, do I associate the SSCP application to the profile?????

Still not fully clear on that part

card type?

router(config)#card type t1 0 0
router(config)#card type t1 0 1

and so on, something like that.

Just a guess...

yes and would you add it through telephony services and assign an sdpfarm with trancscoders. it's in the doc I attached and very well explained
