Hi All,

i have the client wanting to change the secondary dial tone on the system, the system is running on r7. Here is what i done so far. On the system menu I used "united states" as my locale. Then on all of my ARS entry the locale was set to "united kingdom", secondary tone was enable and set to system tone. I also tried using network but it didn't work.

any idea on what I've missed?

Try to set the system locale to "Customize" then you have 5 Tone plans. For UK select Tone plan 2.

Also check the system > telephony > tones & music for the busy tone detections settings.

Settings for the US:

Tone
Frequency (Hz)
Cadence (seconds)

Dial Tone
350+440
Continuous.

Alternate Dial Tone
350+440
(0.25/0.25) on/off.

Secondary Dial Tone
Use Dial Tone.

Busy Tone
480+620
(0.5/0.5) on/off.

Fast Busy Tone
480+620
(0.25/0.25) on/off.

Intercept Busy Tone
440/620
(0.25/0.25) alternating tone.

Ring Tone
440+480
(2.0/4.0) on/off.

Call Waiting Tone
480+620
(0.0/0.1/0.2/1200) on/off.

Number Unobtainable Tone
400
Continuous.

tnx for the reply bas,i will give this a try tonight. although i was able the change the secondary dial tone when i tried using a different locale "belgium" and all others setting set to default including locale set in the ars was set to blank. it seems that some local have the same dial tone and secondary dial tone.

In the ARS you can select it you would like to hear the dialtone from the provider. System tone or Network tone.

Changing the locale also means you change the settings for trunks!!!.
This is automatically done by the IPO and it does that with the system locale.

Why on earth would you do this just because a customer has a strange request?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

@bas

i tried playing with it but i hear the same tone either system or network.

@tlpeter
this customer previously used panasonic and that system is capable of changing the secondary dial tone. they insisted to have this feature. and its one of the reasons they wont signed the acceptance of the project.

it seem its the only way i know to make the secondary dial tone different..

i am sorry but if that is an issue then walk away!
I really do not understand that there are people on this world making such a hassle about such minor issues.

Although you could try to set the secondary dial tone to network tone.

Was this feature specified by the customer as essential when the system was originally ordered ? do they have any documentation to prove this?

I have to agree with peter
if this is what he is using now as an excuse not to sign off & pay then you will get nothing but trouble from this customer.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Put a ?D code in to his user that dials your accounts department and delete the system dial codes, then change the system login passwords, if they don't pay they don't play :)

Hahaha although it is illegal.
I have seen it happen that a former boss pulled the PBX off the wall because the customer did not pay.
The police came and took him to the police station.

You really cannot do this stuff although i would think about it too.

thank for all the replys guys, anyways got any idea why the secondary tone change when the i used line id of the trunk instead of the ars id.

i had all my users, restriction and ars under user rights for easier management. but i found out that the secondary dial tone change when using the line id instead of the the ars id when dialing out, although secondary tone was enable on my ars and was set to network tone.

pls bear with me here.
