Changing the forwarding destination when a user is off-network

Please help me with the Extended Call Forwarding.

Everything works until I dial the last digit of the new 12-digit forward-to number (9+1+area code+ 7-digit number). Right after I dial the last digit, I get a busy signal.

Below is what I found in the Avaya documentation.
Am I missing any steps in procedure 8?

Changing the forwarding destination when a user is at an off-network location:

1. Go off hook.
2. Dial the telecommuting extension number.
3. Dial the FAC for Extended Call Forward Activate All feature or press their Call Forwarding
Activation All feature button.
4. Listen for a dial tone.
5. Dial the extension number and press the pound key (#) key.
6. Dial the security code and press the pound (#) key.
7. Listen for a dial tone.
8. Dial the extension of the destination.
Use no more than 18 digits when you enter your off-network call forwarding destination
telephone number. You must include the FAC for the Trunk Access Code (TAC) or
Automatic Alternate Routing (AAR) or Automatic Route Selection (ARS) among the 18
digits. Do not include the pound key (#) that you use to terminate a forwarded-to number
among the 18 digits. For more information on the AAR and ARS features, see the
Administrator Guide for Avaya Communication Manager.
9. Hang up the telephone after you hear the three-beep tone that the system generates to
confirm the change

Probably a COR. I don't think you can forward off net without the proper COR.

couple things to check:

display COS

Extended Forwarding All (need y for the station)
Extended Forwarding B/DA (need y for the station)
Restrict Call Fwd-Off Net (need n for the station)

Using the codes will work differently if you use remote access with a barrier code with or without console permissions.

Guys, thanks for your quick responses.

All this is correct in my system:
Extended Forwarding All (need y for the station)
Extended Forwarding B/DA (need y for the station)
Restrict Call Fwd-Off Net (need n for the station)

The user's extension doesn't have console permissions, and I do use remote access with a security code for that extension.

What is the next troubleshooting step?

COVERAGE OF CALLS REDIRECTED OFF-NET (CCRON)

Coverage Of Calls Redirected Off-Net Enabled? y

AvayaTier3, that's what I have:

COVERAGE OF CALLS REDIRECTED OFF-NET (CCRON)

Coverage Of Calls Redirected Off-Net Enabled? y
Activate Answer Detection (Preserves SBA) On Final CCRON Cvg Point? y
Ignore Network Answer Supervision? n
Disable call classifier for CCRON over ISDN trunks? n
Disable call classifier for CCRON over SIP trunks? n

What is the next step?

You are dialing DID to the telecommuter number?

What if you use a phone on-site?

1. from the phone you want to forward, try call forward all code to the number you are trying to forward to.
Call Forwarding Activation All: your_code, 9+1+xxxyyyzzzz

2. from a different extension in the same switch as the phone you want to forward off-net. dial the Extended Call Fwd Activate All: your_code, ext #, sec #, 9+1+xxxyyyzzzz

also try local extension as forward to destination.
Troubleshooting should be to see first of all if you can forward, then if you can extend forward to station.

then forward and extend forward to off-net

then extend forward using telecommuter access

Call Forwarding
When Call Forwarding is active, the status lamps for the active features for that extension are lit. When Call Forwarding is deactivated, the status lamps for both Call Forward All Calls and Call Forward Busy/Don’t Answer buttons for that extension are not lit.

The system does not support forwarding to an off-network location.

You may want to opt for the change cover and setup coverage remote. The drawback would be using the access code for
Change Coverage Access Code: your_code
will only toggle between 2 pre-programmed cover paths.

It will not allow changing the destination number on the fly.

You should also be able to use call forward all code for off net forwarding via the remote-access extension and barrier code. You will need to use a COS with console permissions.

1. Create a new xport extension.
2. Create a remote coverage path, using the outside number.
3. Assigned the new remote coverage path to the new xport extension.
4. Forward the station to the new xport station.

Calls are now fowarded to the external destination without having to use Extended Call Forwarding or Call Forwarding Off-Net.

For Susan's option to work, you will have to turn this on.
It's a system wide option.

AvyaTier3,

Here are the results after I tested what you suggested:

1. from the phone you want to forward, try call forward all code to the number you are trying to forward to.
Call Forwarding Activation All: your_code, 9+1+xxxyyyzzzz
PASS

2. from a different extension in the same switch as the phone you want to forward off-net. dial the Extended Call Fwd Activate All: your_code, ext #, sec #, 9+1+xxxyyyzzzz
PASS

also try local extension as forward to destination.
PASS

I also did this: I dialed the user’s extension FROM OUT OF NETWORK using the telecommuter access and the Extended Call Fwd, and was able to change the forwarding to the local 4-digit extension.
But when I tried to forward to this 9+1+xxxyyyzzzz, it didn’t work.

Susan,
Your suggestion will definitely work and I will use it as a last resort.
But what am I doing wrong that the “normal” Extended Forwarding doesn’t work???!!!

Any thoughts?

What do you mean by this:
The system does not support forwarding to an off-network location.

I can forward to off-network locations without any problem.
I just cannot activate/deactivate forwarding to off-net using the telecommuter access...

I read the whole thread again and I do not understand what you are trying to tell me, sorry.

The Call Forwarding is NOT active on that extension before I try to do any forwarding changes...

What am I missing which is so obvious to you?
