If that makes any sense... here we go

I want to assign items in column A to random people. I created a table where 1 = jack, 2 = jill... etc.

Colum B selects a random # between 1 and (cell) with the cell containing the number of people available for assignment.

So if there are 12 people, column B randomly chooses a number from 1 - 12. In column C, I want the person's name to appear when column B is populated. For example, if column B returns 1, I want column C to return Jill.

is there a function I can use in column C to accomplish this?

Thanks.

Sure, VLOOKUP() - see my FAQ on it, BUT, are your random numbers going to give you 12 separate numbers 1-12 or will you get duplicates?

So this means that the same person will get multiple tasks yes? If that's Ok then just go with the FAQ I referred to:-

How does VLOOKUP work??
