We need to change the number of rings on night mode from 3 rings to 5 or 6. Also need to change the number of rings for each line (5 lines) coming into the office when not in night mode. I am sure the second part is done by AA ---> lines ----> ----> table ----> rings change from 3 to 5 but I am lost on the night mode

Night mode is under services, ring groups. Create ring group 2 (or something else besides 1) and enable it for manual. Assign the Voicemail DN to this ring group.

Back up one step and go past ring groups and assign the lines to ring group 2 (default is ring group 1) that you want the night ring to answer.

The control set is the only DN that can toggle night on/off...assign feature 871 to that set and try it and see if allows night ring to toggle on and off. Night ring overrides AA ring settings and automatically sets ring on those lines to 0 rings.

Yeah you cant change the ring count for Service Modes, its 0 rings....now way its set to 3.
If anything your AA/Lines is set to 3 rings....that is a 24/7 setting but as Crowtalk states Service Mode will override.

We have the night mode set up on the reception phone (221) with the one button to turn it on, and I have the extensions set to ring on the floor that I want to ring in night mode, the problem is, we want the rings to be greater than 3 rings that we have it set to now when it is in night mode so if anyone hears it they have the chance to answer it before it goes to voicemail (AA)

Are you saying when it is in night service mode I cannot have it ring greater than 3 rings before AA answers?

Service Modes (night) and AA or two different beasts.

Service Modes will ring the sets you program (on the floor) right away.
AA will answer the lines based on the ring count you program in AA/Lines, this setting is fixed 24/7.

Try just changing AA/Lines to 5 rings.
Then call in and test
Report findings as in what do you want it to do during the day and what to do at night....full details.

Keep in mind the Call Forward No Answer ring count on those night sets can also interfere and dump into any given mailbox so boots the CNA count to 6.

Ok, I ran across that problem before where a random extension was getting the voicemail when we had the reception phone xfer to another extension while she was on break. How do I boost the CNA to 6??

I changed rings to 5 from 3 on each one of our lines, we tested, the line rang 3 audible rings, voicemail picked up and our voicemail changed from the one we created to the general delivery voicemail greeting

You have the voice mail DN in the night service ring group. If you put the voice mail DN in the ring group, it will be answered immediately. Remove it and use the AA ring counter.

Im guessing what you mean by voicemail DN is the reception extension of 221?

No the voice mail system. Do F985 on any phone and you'll get it. Then remove that DN from the ring group.

Ok gotcha, just did it and its 251. It must be in the night service mode is what I understand you are saying.

251 was not assigned in the ringing group 001, now I am stumped

Make sure anyone in the ring group also do not have Forward On Busy programmed.
Make sure no other rings groups are programmed.

If it goes to general mailbox:
-Look at reception sets settings CFNA and CFB
-Make sure a set in a ring group is not told to CFNA or CFB if it does not have a mailbox behind it.
-Make sure all sets in the ring group have their mailbox initialized so it can take answers.

I'm not sure if I am experiencing 2 separate issues or not now.

1) When the receptionist puts the phones in night mode I am only able to have the extensions that I program in ring 3 times, we need at least 5 rings on those extensions.

2) When we are in normal mode the lines ring 3 times then go to our prerecorded message and prompts, when I change it to 5 rings we still get 3 audible rings but the calls go to the general mailbox with no prompts.

I went thru the ringing groups and it appears we are only using ringing group 001.
I checked and 251 is not in the ringing group and I even took out the reception 221 out of the service ringing group, no change.

I am able to without problem add and delete extensions from the group that night service rings to, maybe if I just start with one and eliminate all the others to make it easier?

I really appreciate all your help on this.

Forget about 251, if it was programmed then AA would pickup instantly.

What exactly happens after 3 rings?

As Curly said you have a DN or DN's that are CFNA to voice mail after 3 rings. Probably your reception phone. You should never have a phone that rings call forwarding with no answer for a shorter number of rings than the AA setting.

A night service ring group only phones to those already programmed in normal operation.

As an example if you have only 221 ringing during the day and you create a night service ring that includes only 222, when yo place the system in night mode then both 221 and 222 ring, even though 221 is not in the ring group.

It goes into our voicemail system with our pre-recorded message and prompts

I give up, you're getting it... hire a qualified tech.

Looks like most of the extensions in the ring group are CFNA to 251, but shouldnt they be?
