Hi.
We are trying to generate some CDR from our switch.
we need the cdr to be saved in a file.
I try to configure the "change system-parameters cdr" but I can't find the field that defines where the CDR will be save.
Please tell me if there any references in the web regarding this problem (i already tried the Avaya support).
thanks
have a nice day

Hi if this is a standard cdr output you need to configure the output to a data module that will connect to a digital port (type should be system port) port should be one from a digital line card. Wire this to your data module and you can output from the data module straight to a pc.

Hi dkindness
thanks for your quick replay.
Where can i configure the output (in the "Primary Output Endpoint" ??)
if you can tell me more it whould be helpfull.
I also install the BCMS software but couldn't find the CDR option there (i want to be able to "see" all the data on every call)

add data module xxxx type should be pdm not system port as stated above. Port field should be a port on digital line card and connect to dte. You then need to wire a data module to your digital line. pri endpoint should be data module extension xxxx. Unfortunatly you will need an actual physical data module to wire in.

Not sure on the bcms i know you can use CMS to give you a CDR like output recording call details phone numbers etc not sure if bcms is as flexible unfortunatly i only work beside dkindness and dont have a great deal of experience on call reporting features.......sorry ....but the cdr stuff is right

WHat Version/system you are using ??? Do you have a clan card ???..Incase of G3 Si or prologix, you get a serial connection (RS232) /inetrface, connect it to a Desktop and use some application to capture the data coming on the serial port...

Can u tell what kind of data module should i go for
How do i configure so that i get the data on Hyper terminal at PC

I am posting this info in the hopes it is what you are looking for, if anything it may prove usefull for others who may need the info anyway:

Equipment required: TN799DP configured for 100mps for best results.

1. You must configure the pc as a node in the S8700/pbx. You need the ip address of the pc equipment. After obtaining the ip-address, access the pbx and issue the command change node-names ip . In the example below I have named it CDR. Upon entering the name and ip-address press enter to enter information.

change node-names ip Page 1 of 1
IP NODE NAMES
Name IP Address Name IP Address
CDR 16 .102.76 .100 . . .
CMS2 16 .102.76 .60 . . .
EC500LOOPBACK 16 .100.0 .82 . . .
VLABCLAN1 16 .102.76 .135 . . .
VLABCLAN2 16 .102.76 .136 . . .

( 16 of 24 administered node-names were displayed )
Use 'list node-names' command to see all the administered node-names
Use 'change node-names ip xxx' to change a node-name 'xxx' or add a node-name

2. Issue command change system parameters cdr at which time the screen below will appear.

change system-parameters cdr Page 1 of 1

3. In the primary Output Endpoint Enter CDR1 . Complete the remaining fields asrequired. Press enter to enter into pbx.
4. Next issue the command change ip-services at which time the screen below will appear.

7. The service type is already filled in. The key field to set is the Reliable Protocol field. This is the field which needs to be set to n .
8. These instructions will work also with any Definity G3 Release 9.5 or higher which has a C-lan board administered.

..use DCE connector and connect to serial interface on a desktop..set speed to 9600 8 N 1..May be you can use hyper terminal to connect/etst the CDR.

Hi avaya2004
The DCE connector is a parallel one.
Can I use it? (I tried to connect it to a parallel entrance in a leptop and noting was capture in the hyper terminal, any suggestions?

Eliav

Hi Eliav,

The DCE port is a serial port. Connect the cable to the serial port on your PC/Laptop and then open hyperterminal to capture the data.

Jigar

Hi Jigar
I will try to find an adapter to change it from parallel to serial (it is defiantly a parallel cable) and than connect it to my Laptop.
10ex for your help.
i will let you know if it work.

Hi all
10ex for your big help
I finally manage to get the CDR from the switch and use hyper terminal to test it.
Now I have some questions:
1. I want to be able to "see" a call that was not answered by one of my agent (when it entered (the time) and after how long it abounded).
2. When I try to enter the start time as a parameter I get the following error " "start-time" invalid, must enable SA8201 on system-param special-app form"
Please advise.

In looking at your question, I may be able to help. I beleive you need a module that will read the CDR info. This is connected at the back of your PBX off of the DCE Connection. This connection will support modem or IP pooling, it is how you set it up on the PBX as TelecomHeadache mentioned.

Hope that helped.

Avaya, Octel, AUDIX, CMS and other fun stuff.

Hi

I have a Z3A2 Interface Unit. Does anyone know the settings or where can i get the specifications for this unit

Thanks

TelecomHeadache...

Once we set up your configuration, where does call recording file go? On the pc somewhere, or is there another piece to it? Does it require a physical connection, or will IP work?

Thanks,
Chris
