Is it possible to install msde for the ccc when it is already installed and in use by another application. get error....another version of this is already installed ...blah blah, during msde setup....I assume sql will do it but not msde

MSDE get's very strange when you have multiple instances of MSDE installed, Best of with SQL if you want to do this.

ccc server should be installed on a stand-alone server.
what other applications are you trying to run?
unless they have verry low resource requirements I would expect this setup to give you nothing but trouble

I have a question on CCC - does everyone recommend just running SQL even if you are dealing with 15 agents or less? I could see having 10 to 15 agents on a rollout and taking the cheap way then the customer wants to add a license for another 5 or 10 agents...seems like you might create a headache. I think rolling out SQL on the CCC server from the start would be the best. What's thoughts from anyone else? Also does anyone know if SQL 2005 is supported by CCC?

From Knowledgebase TechTip 138 (May 9 2006):

Microsoft SQL 2005 is currently not supported for Avaya IP Office Applications. This includes Compact Contact Center (CCC) V4 and V5, ContactStore, and Conferencing Center.

The currently supported versions are Microsoft SQL 2000 and MSDE.

Thanks for the info - I missed that one or just glanced it over...must be old age. Does anyone though use MSDE or do you recommend using SQL 2000 right on the get go?

using MSDE :

Pro's :
It's FREE

Con's :
No Enterprise Manager
No Query Analyzer
No Index Tuning Wizard
Only 2GB RAM
Only 2GB database size limit
Only 2 CPUs
Only five concurrent batch workloads or 25 concurrent connections for websites
No Database Server Failover Support
No Full-text search
No SQL Server Profiler
No Import and Export Wizards

2 Gigabyte looks huge but if you have a site with 300 users and only 5 agents then be aware that ALL call activity will be stored in the database, not only the agent activity.
So a database of 2 Gb will can filled up within a year.
MSDE is not able to let the database grow if it is reaching the limits.

You should be able to run 16 multiple instances of msde as I have run 3 on the 2000 version. I think the trick was to make sure you name the instances different. They run as a service in windows. You can administer it all through dos commands as far as renaming instances and changing password to the sa account etc. Check out the following link @ microsoft--->
Hope this helps!!!

I know you can install with a string on the exe that specifies the instance name and pw etc... but couldnt get data to pass from from delta server after trying all variations of db name and user authentication
