Can anyone summarize the capailities of the subject system ?

We have this system and want to determine if we should by a new PBX system or live with the currect system...

Some of the "can the EE-192 do this" are:
Caller-ID delivery to user's phone.
More sophisticated Voice messaging system with hierarchical voice menus.
"Support Line" only on certain phones with visual indication of message waiting.

Also, by the way, our system is using multiple analog lines on a rotary from the CO...

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

One more thing, why is the configuration and managment of these PBX systems such a "well kept secret" ???? It is very difficult getting any documentation from NEC's website for these systems...

There are "hundreds" of features on the Elite.

Press the feature button then 3 to see what software level you are. Please post back and I'll let you know if it's possible. Caller ID is available but you must have a certain level of software.

YOu will need to check with the phone company to see if CID is available on your current lines.

The voice mail is capable of a complex Auto Attendant.

The support line function is resolved with Call Arrival (CAR) / SIE keys.

The Elite features are extremely underused by their owners. It is feature rich beyond belief. Feature rich means flexibility which means loads of programming, which means lots of room for errors. With ONE keystroke in the wrong Memory Block you can knock your system offline.

NEC has training. If your support vendor is an authorized dealer then they would be able to "sponsor" you. NEC will not talk to an end user regardless of training, unfortunately. Unless you have a NTAC Tech ID you will not be able to access their website for support of any kind. The bright side is that there are many on this site that will help you and will send you information.

The wedophones.com website is a great place to get FREE documentation. As far as a "well kept secret" I think NEC charges for training then offers pretty good tech support to those qualified. I am sure many see it as job security (including myself).

Thanks for the quick response...

When I press "Feature + 3", I get the following message:
-------------------------
Key System
SP034 V4.50
-------------------------

Hopefully this helps...

OK, the good news and the bad

You CAN have caller ID Display!

The Bad news? You do not have capablilty for Call ID Scroll or Call ID call return (voice Mail feature).

the callerid scrolling sucks anyway IMHO......

also note that callerid can only be viewed on 16 (or 15) phones at once

Not so..... Look, if you are going to possibly replace it, there is a great value in upgrading to the IPK. Get with your dealer and tell them what you are thinking. You get CLID w/ Scrolling up to 50 numbers and they fixed the 16 phones at onece to all sets. You get latest features, and there are many depending on what you are at now in software. There is VOIP using Megaco,NEC's KCCIS networking, and Unified Messaging using the current EliteMail CTI, or wait a month or two for the latest version on Window's. The upgrade is simply a change out of your processor and possibly the cabinet if you are an Elite 48. If you have a 192 then all cards stay, but you may need one or so changed out depending on some criteria. You can keep all phones and then run the newer sets as well.

The newest s/w version (3000/3500) allows missed CID logging and scrolling on all phones. The answer to whether or not to keep the 192 or go pbx is yes. The IPK is not a pbx, but I've been swapping out pbxs for IPKs left and right. What you have now is still a kick ass system, and if you look hard enough, you can find manual downloads. Try telephone reseller sites.

Hi, new question... We have the NEC EE-192 and I am trying to figure out how to program-in the names of users so that when someone calls our company and receives our default voicemail, they can search the company directory by dialing the first three letters of a person's name. Can you provide instructions for this?

Also, does this require a direct (serial/parallel/etc.) connection to the EE-192 unit or can I do this from a phone?

Thanks very much in advance for any help you can provide. :*)

When a person sets up their voicemail if they spell out their last name correctly like it asks you to do and then select yes to be listed in the directory they will automatically be listed in the dial by name directory. If you want it to read everybodys name out then you will need a serial cable and cossesions to set that up. I hope this helps.
