IS-IT--Management
Info: before I installed ISA I used RRAS with nat and had no problem renewing my lease from my isp. If I left my server running or rebooted I always got an ip (and it was even the same one). But I noticed that if I did ipconfig/release & /renew, it could not find the dhcp server. This was not a problem because it automaticly renew it's ip every 24 hrs, it was just somthing I noticed. Since I installed ISA server I have to reboot my server every morning to renew my ip. I have enabled and configured the dhcp packet packet filter, disabled APIPA in the reg and read all the relivent docs from isaserver.org many times. I'm using UDP ports 67&68 both directions and have tried lots of different configs in the filter and in ISA (I dont think this the problem). When I check my ip configs I get an ip of 24.200.x.x and the ip of the ISP's dhcp is a private address of 10.23.125.2, I cannot ping this address but somehow when I reboot my computer or cable modem can communicate with the dhcp and renew the ip?. It is not a PPPOE connection and I think that authentication occurs through the modem. I think that maby the brodcast for a renewal is different at reboot then from isa server. Is somthing else blocking the request?? Thanks tertone100
