Info: before I installed ISA I used RRAS with nat and had no problem renewing my lease from my isp. If I left my server running or rebooted I always got an ip (and it was even the same one). But I noticed that if I did ipconfig/release & /renew, it could not find the dhcp server. This was not a problem because it automaticly renew it's ip every 24 hrs, it was just somthing I noticed. Since I installed ISA server I have to reboot my server every morning to renew my ip. I have enabled and configured the dhcp packet packet filter, disabled APIPA in the reg and read all the relivent docs from isaserver.org many times. I'm using UDP ports 67&68 both directions and have tried lots of different configs in the filter and in ISA (I dont think this the problem). When I check my ip configs I get an ip of 24.200.x.x and the ip of the ISP's dhcp is a private address of 10.23.125.2, I cannot ping this address but somehow when I reboot my computer or cable modem can communicate with the dhcp and renew the ip?. It is not a PPPOE connection and I think that authentication occurs through the modem. I think that maby the brodcast for a renewal is different at reboot then from isa server. Is somthing else blocking the request?? Thanks tertone100

Yes it is enabled, I also noticed that if my computer is turned off at the time that my lease expires I have to re-set the modem first then re-start. Also my Isp does not support proxies or firewalls with dynamic ip's.

Have you installed Windows SRP1?

Believe me: Don´t install it!

I have a week of headache after installed SRP1 on my ISA machine. I was losing my routing table w/ no reason.

My simptom was, suddenly my externar connection stops. So i had to stop my FW service, disable my Cable connection, reactivate it and after thism and only after this i was the service up and running. It was a hell.

(My english is not so good. If you couldn´t get what i would to say above, please let me know... ;-) )

I have installed SP2 and SP1 for ISA. I know that it is my cable modem that communicates with the dhcp by its mac address. With out ISA server, my computer sends a request for a renewell to the cable modem and the cable modem forwards a request to the ISP dhcp and "it works". With ISA , the request is not going to the modem even with the filter configured correctly. ???

If you run IPCONFIG on your machine, the DHCP Server of your cable modem is 10.xxx.xxx.xxx or it´s other IP?

If your machine is 24.200.xxx.xxx, what is its network mask?

Don´t give up, Spectreman! ;-)
