My boss asked me to get an old IP office system off the shelf to use for a customer for about 90 days.

We have a 403 and a 406 they both work but I can't access the systems with Manager. In fact I can't ping either system using address 192.168.42.1. I'm assuming that the address for each machine has been changed.

Is there some way I can find the address or can I default all system programming so that the IP address is 192.168.42.1?

If you have a straight through 9 pin serial cable and connect to the DTE port you can catch the IP address(s) in Hex during boot up and/or AT-X2, AT-X3 the systems to wipe the config, but you will need Manager handy at the correct level and with a BootP entry to save them if you do a full AT-X :)

You could also download wireshark on your laptop and then connect your laptop to the 406/403. You can then use wireshark to see what the ip address has been changed to.

I got the 406 defaulted and can now program it. Now I have another problem. The system has 4 analog trunks and I have programmed line appearance buttons for each but I can't access the lines using the buttons dial 9 works fine and incoming calls come in on the appearance button not the line appearance

When I look at the control unit tab I see the analog pots 2 and the digital dcp 8 but nothing regarding trunks, the trunks do appear in the line tab. Any Ideas?

Older releases didn't allow you to directly access POTS lines. Even when you put the appearance on the phone you still needed to dial 9 to access them. I assume these are old releases.
