Hi,

I installed a new PRI and when placing a local call (outside my home area code), I get a recording that says; "The number you have dialed is not a long distance call - Do not dial a 1 when placing this call".

I have tried changing the route's PFX MRK to "0". I tried deleting the "1" as well. I have tried to "cha ars analysys" to show hnpa, from fnpa, as well as LOCL.

Yet the carrier says that his trace shows my calls being tagged as National_Number. He says they do only show the 10 digits (without the 1).

I did a "li trace TAC" and dialed in from the remote-access, then dialed out to the local 10 digit number. I then got the following trace, (with ars set to hnpa)

time data
11:01:50 dial 914254938800 route:ARS
11:01:50 route-pattern 21 preference 1 cid 0x1de
11:01:50 seize trunk-group 14 member 23 cid 0x1de
11:01:50 Setup digits 4254938800
11:01:50 Calling Number & Name 6308423434 NO-CPName
11:01:50 Proceed trunk-group 14 member 23 cid 0x1de
11:02:03 idle trunk-group 14 member 1 cid 0x1de

I heard the same carrier recording and hung up. Any idea what can be wrong? I have been at this since last night.. Ouch!

Thanks!

Try setting hnpa for the call type in ARS. Also try removing the prefix mark all together in the route pattern and put your area code in the NPA. You can also try putting in 200 for the are code. Depending on the carrier you may need to also put in pub-unk in the numbering format entry of the route pattern.

LBJ,

I tried everything you suggested and nothing worked until I went back to my original config and plugged in the Pub-unk option you suggested. That worked! WHat does that feature do exactly?

Thanks much!

Joe

Glad your fixed. The pub-unk formats the number as a public type to send to the telco. Kind of a number format handshake if you will. Not all carriers require this setting.
