I installed a BCM50 this weekend and can't seem to change the time and date on the system. The clock is five minutes fast, and when I change the time in Element Manager, the clock goes back to the time before I made the changes. Time zone is set, and have the proprer Default gateyway set up.

Just installed service update #2.

Any ideas?

hey there, i just pulled off a bulletin from nortel site- stating any bcm 50 assembled after august 12 may have problems with slips/ losing time. The fix is to go in and set up the time setting (usually this is manual), to ntp (time off network if available- NTP) or trunk setting. I will have to do this myself, hope ya have some luck with this.

Just read that bullitin yesterday. Tried NTP already. Same thing. It mentions that the crystal in the BCM50 will loose 14 minutes every 24 hours. I can't even change the clock...

There is a limited release patch that is available for this issue. You'll need to contact Nortel and open a case as it hasn't been made GA as of yet.

Thanks option11newby. I'll give that a try in the thread you mentioned. I bet that'll fix it...

Nortel has a patch? I should open a tac case today, and get that from them.

Thanks

Make sure your default gateway is in the same subnet as your IP address of the BCM50. If it's not, you will not be able to change your clock.
