Hi All.

Have a little issue here.

I just received a call from a customer saying he can't 4 digit dial between 2 offices SCN'd though it did work yesterday. The customer says he made no changes and I believe him because the only change I see is to an extension that he has done a number of times.

The SCN, while I was watching went up and down, and then back up after a reboot, but when I call into the number that routes to the VMPro Auto Attendant, it works fine. I dial an extension at the site where 4 digit dialing isn't working it drops the call immediately.

To summarize:

Call the office with the trouble.
Call goes over the SCN to the Centralized VMPro.
The auto attendant picks up, you dial the extension at the office that won't let you 4 digit dial, it selects the appropriate SCN line, and then the call is dropped.
Rebooted the IP office. No change
Rebooted the UCM. No change.
Any ideas?

I have asked to get their network guys to look at the network... it is a private one... but they say there is nothing wrong...

Their running centralized VM Pro on a UC Module on an SCN?
I know its affected by whatever the issue is, but I dont believe UCMs were supported for SCN/Centralized.

As for the SCN, if its a private network, what firewalls are they using? If their Sonicwall/Dell, make sure they didnt recently apply any firmware updates. If they did or didn't, check to make sure SIP ALG/VoIP support is DISABLED. Sonicwall/Dell could never get that working right, and always had issues with SCNs when it was turned on.

For other firewall manufacturers, I'd also turn off SIP ALG/H323 ALG and test again. Router/firewall makers seem generally unable to make it work right, at least with Avaya.

Also, check System Status on both systems, what does the H323 trunk between systems show? SCN on or off?

Hopefully one of these will point you in a direction to resolve the issue.

UCM can be used as the voicemail server in an SCN but only one with 6 systems rather than the full 32.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hi jbalzeripo

The SCN links are showing up, and I forwarded your suggestions to the customer network people.

Another thing I did try was calling into the office where the UCM is, and trying to get the VMPro Auto Attendant to send the call to the failing office. The same thing happened. Call hits the line and dies.

The suggestion was made to the customer IT to look at another office that is SCN'd to the failing office and compare the call to the failing ones. I only SUGGEST as I hate it when people think they know my job better than I do, so I give others the same courtesy.

As a note: This was working yesterday just fine. The only change the customer made was to swap to extensions. So I told him, we could go back to a June 17 backup file if worse came to worse.

Regards

Have you rebooted the firewalls if there are any between sites? We have a couple that do this from time to time and honestly the only thing that we found to get it back is remove the SCN trunk and rebuild it.

Sorry for taking so long to get back.
Busy.

Kwing, you are the proud owner of a shiny new start.
Deleted / rebuilt SCN and it worked.
