SCO "certified" Intek 21 parallel port; Intel D865PERL motherboard. Printer Manager lets me set up printer on /dev/lp3 (lp3 and lp4 available by default) without error. hwconfig shows no entry for the card - apparently not recognized at boot but does have entry for pci base and Acceleraid controller in slot 2.Have tried card fore and aft of Acceleraid card with no change. Have tried forcing interrupt # in sustem bios with no change. Only "clue" is one of the lines describing the raid controller contains "bus=PCI :3 slot=1" when card in in physical slot 2. When trying to send "date" to lp3 get "/dev/lp3: cannot create". Any help appreciated.

You don't mention in your post that you ran the mkdev parallel routine. That would be a requirement before the new device would appear in the hwconfig screen.
The card's docs (or their website) should help with the parameters needed for running that routine. You can run:
# hw -r pci
to see how the card is recognized.

Did run mkdev parallel. Says two pci parallel ports set up by default (lp3, lp4) and can only modify. Modification only permits changing of # of pci parallel ports-no interrupt or address choices. Forced interrupt in pc bios and have found card with hw -r pci but does not show up in hwconfig. Have emailed card manu-nothing on website.

Make sure you run mkdev parallel for the port on the motherboard so the driver is included in the kernel.
(ISA, i/o 378, int 7)

What version of unix are you running?
-with open server run mkdev parallel, remove all the ports that you don´t need, relink the kernel, restart the system and then add the one you need with the option '4 Other configuration'.
-with unixware type dcu and search for "software devices" or something, then select misc. or miscelaneous don´t remember, and at last, select "mfpd parallel port" and press "f5" select the right parameters and then press "f10" to accept when you return to the menu, select "return to main menu" or something and finally select apply changes and exit, then relink the kernel and restart the system.
hope this help you.

I am having this same problem with a 5.0.7 server on new IBM hardware (x326). Tried just about everything besides a serial to parallel converter. Anyone have any luck?
