just to be a bit out of repairs and troubles, and maybe things to tell the customer for fun

i had a interesting and in depth meeting with a customer a while back ,in the heat of the virtues(grin) of the mics & vmail, he said "and i bet it makes coffee too) to which i said yes
he bet me $100.00 it wouldn't
believe it or not i made it work (i know a timed coffee pot works great) but it is a great thinking project and the coffee pot in question didn't have a timer

any guesses how to do it

note: we sold the system and had a nice meal with the $100

It is amazing what all you can do with the Aux ring contacts if you don't need the aux ringer. If I were a betting person, I would have to say your project involved the aux ringer contacts. I use them all the time for strobes etc. Can't let them go to waste.

no aux relay ,they used it for night bell

but could be used to make coffee in other situations

Seems though that you used some sort of relay to trip the coffee maker's contacts... maybe analog station with ringer relay? Or something like a door-strike controller?

My guess is the hotline feature, with aux ringer programmed to trip a switch...

i did make a relay/solenoid to push the button on the coffee maker
but how did i get it to trip at a certain time (while not on site and away from phones)

Did you install a door phone and gate/door opener? Call the door phone from outside the office and press "6" to activate the gate/door opener. The gate/door opener was connected to a relay that activated the coffee pot?

no i just used an ata and home made relay the rest is software
use
your idea would work but it could not be preset

could have done it with the external PA relay iffin you werent using the external PA.

I could see using a 7100 (center bell control on bottom of phone)

all good ideas but your sticking to the hardware side of things

I'll explain how i did it and tell me if it can be refined

take 1 phone system (in this case a mics)
1 voice mail (this case a nam)
1 ata
1 homemade relay/solenoid (on ring voltage plunger pushes out)

that's the hardware

programing

guest mailbox 444 programed with off prem notification to ext 555 (ata)
set cos to ring opn to 1 time

thats it

now to use it

set up the plunger hooked to the ata to press the on button of the coffee maker(duct tape works good for this) (put the coffee and water in also )(natch)

leave a msg in mailbox 444 on Friday with future delivery time of say 0600 on Monday morning

now on Monday morning the message is delivered, the ata rings from the opn ,plunger hits the power switch , and the coffee is perking, and ready for you when you get in the office

I was talking to a buddy about this and we want to know how the MICS can fill up the water reservoir and put in the filter with the coffee. [ponder]

if it comes to it i think i may figure something out (lets see now
relay for water,,,,,,,,,,,robotic arm ,,,,,,,,,,,,,)

LOL! Ok, this may be a dumb question. What is a plunger hooked to the ATA?

well the plunger is actually connected to a solenoid that is connected to a relay that in turn is connected to the ata for the ring voltage

how about we involve multiple ATAs and assign a DID to each one...

example:

Call 555 555-1001, turns the grinder on.
555 555-1002, robot arm moves coffee into fiter.
555 555-1003, turns coffee maker on.

for fresh ground coffee its worth it.

iiiiiiiiiiiii like it

you know i may just have to do this and video tape it for u tube or something
