I know this is possible in the IP office world, but was curious if it was possible in the CM world.

Like most of you, we have an influx of remote workers. They have all been setup with EC500, but if they have to call a client back, it shows up as their personal cell phone, obviously. Is there a way a user with EC500 can call into the CM to get dialtone, so they can dial out via the cm? Which would essentially mask their personal cell phone number?

yeah. get one-x lite. go into change feature-name-extensions

You assign extensions to features.
You assign DIDs to those extensions.
If EC500 has your cell tied to extension 101 and your cell calls the DID associated to grab a free call appearance, you'll get system dial tone and dial as if you're 101.

That's the 2 second explanation.

That makes sense. However, One-x lite doesn't appear to exist anymore.

Hey Joe,

I know that there are applications that do this, however I'm not looking for that type of solution.

As I said, I've seen this done on the IPO side of things, figured CM would have something like that as well. It wasn't a pretty solution, but it functioned, and was easier than trying to teach/install end users an additional desktop application.

As a technician we use remote access, you configure a did number with a barrier code, so you call in on the remote access did and receive a dial tone next you enter the barrier that you assign and then your ars access code. But I would not give this out to just anyone!!!

Joe, I assume that the barrier code would allow anyone that knows it access to dial out?

I know IP office is a different beast, but on that system, you could only dial into the pbx IF it could match your calling digits to the twinning field (ec500 in CM). Otherwise you'd get a busy signal. This allowed only people who should have access to be able to call out.

if you want the PSTN way, check out ec500 by aura alliance

yes that is why you do not give out barrier access code to just anyone
