thread60-1275891

reference to thread60-1275891 i made all the steps and i can mount the DVD ROM , but when i boot from OK prompt it says that boot failed.

the diagnostic of the OK prompt don't show the path of the USB DVD ROM.

any one have any idea how i can boot from OK prompt the external DVD ROM ?

What does the show-devices command show from ok> ? What aliases are set?

Can you cd down into the device path and see the usb dvd?

What command are you using to boot from that dvd?
If you are using ok>boot cdrom the cdrom device alias may be incorrect. You may need to set up an alias for the usb dvd.

show-devices, cd into the usb path, try a .properties to verify the device.

Use the devalias command to create an alias for the usb dvd, then do ok> boot dvd-alias

the problem that i don't have ATA cdrom , i found one and i connect it so no more the problem of USB drive.

But i have another problem i can not boot from cdrom.

from ok propet i type : boot cdrom

it says :

Boot device: /pci@le,600000/ide@d/cdrom@0,0:f File and args :

Can't open boot device

i reset the ok prompet by typing set-defaults then i try again have the same problem .

i get another copy of solaris 10 and try it didn't work also.

so any idea how to fix that ?

thanks

Use the show-devices command to figure out what is attached to the system at the ok prompt.

The built in cdrom alias points to the onboard ide bus, which may not be where you have your dvd attached.

Once you determine the path to the dvd device, use that path as the boot path.

thanks for the replay.

the problem that the ATA DVD drive (Dell) is not compatible with the v240 so that it cannot boot plus when i try the probe-ide it give nothing.

so i setup jump start server and installed the server and it's worked fine.

thanks so much for your help
