I'm a newcomer to Access 2000 (previous experience was with Filemaker).

I particularly like the flexibility offered by the datasheet view (especially when used in subforms).

But I don't like the default header style for columns (i.e. bold text/grey background). I've found various other ways in which the column headings can be changed - but not this style.

Is this something that I have just got to live with or is there a way I can customise these headings (e.g. plain text/white background)?

What you might try is to not show the column headings in the datasheet subform. Then place custom labels on the main form at the top of the subform with the format that you want. Kind of a tacky work-around, but it may work.

Many thanks. This works - as long as you don't want to allow your users to take advantage of the flexibility of the datasheet view- e.g. resize, hide columns etc. Then the headings are not in the right place!

I think I've made a beginners' mistake. When I said 'this works', I was muddling datasheet view with continuous forms view. I cannot see how to hide the column headings in the datasheet subform....

Well, perhaps you're not the only one making beginner's mistakes. Apparently I was thinking of list and combo boxes where you can set the ColumnHeads property to false. That doesn't seem to work on subforms so I'll have to leave this question for someone with more knowledge than me.
