HI Guys, I have one misunderstanding question.
Can 3rd party IP endpoint licence active an Avaya IP endpiont in R9 IPO?
Any reply will be appreciated.

Yes that should be possible but I did not try it for a long time.
I think you need to reserve it on the extension otherwise it won't work.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hmmm...I don't think so, else why would they have separate licensing?

The 3rd party ip endpoint is much more expensive.
I think it is mentioned in the 6.0ga tech bulletin that you can do this.

Actually I try to use 3rd ip endpoint license at a customer site which IP Office upgraded to 9.0. But the Avaya IP phone is saying unlicensed.

No you cannot, the 3th party IP Endpoint license will not allow a Avaya IP Phone to register.

It is documented:

Note: The IP Endpoint license is allocated to the Extension, not to the User.
For H323 extensions there are 2 new checkboxes (default unchecked, can be
checked/unchecked independently):
• Reserve Avaya IP endpoint license
• Reserve 3rd party IP endpoint license

For SIP extensions, there is 1 new checkbox (default unchecked):
• Reserve 3rd party IP endpoint license

You need to reserve the license to the phone and you need to reboot the IPO.
This only applies to IP phones and not IPDect phones.

That's for 3rd party H323 phones though Peter, yes they're few and far between but that's what it is, not for Avaya phones to use the licence (though I don't see why not) :)

In 9.0.3, it's a drop down, and you get 3rd party, avaya, both, or none. Semantics...
However, I tried it just now. While, it still reserved one 3rd party license for my phone, my phone automatically consumed an avaya ip endpoint license...so it was using both? Weird.
So, for giggles I removed the avaya ip endpoint licenses, rebooted, and it shows unlicensed (still 1 3rd party reserved).

So...for this test, no, you cannot use 3rd party ip endpoint liecnses for avaya ip phones. At least, not for the 9621G.

I did, that's why I pointed you up. I hate it when that happens and someone has given the same answer.....makes you look like a parrot :)

Great minds and such.

This used to work in the past so i think it is a bug.

It is good to know. So the 3rd party license in R9 can only use for the third party.

It seems to be but i still do not understand :)

I am a man of few words and if I say it doesn't work then be assured I really tested it.

I believe you for sure.
I thought I did that too in the past but I guess not.
