I have a site with PRI and 6.1 software. They receive about 110 calls a day. I have gotten reports that at several times throughout the day (1-4 times)and from several calling locations that people are getting a ring no answer when calling in. The site has a receptionist at all times. She is pretty good and I don't belive she is missing the calls. I have asked the carrier to test the circuit for bad channels (of course they are clean). My setup is as follows.

Line 157
Public
Rec number 5000
busy to prime
prime set 7700 (receptionist)
no dist ring, no aux

Set 7700
Line 157 assigned to ring only 5 appearances
set has 5 intercoms

They get most calls, where could they be getting the ring no answer from? If I am not mistaken, the system provides that ring back tones correct? What about setting the Prime to the Call Pilot?
Any ideas

I would say for you to increase the amount of intercom paths to 8 or more and test your calls then to see if you get ring no answer..Maybe some of your calls are trying to ring in but has no intercom paths to ring on..

I did ask her is she was seeing the lines fill all the way up and she said that it has never happened except maybe twice in a month. She stated that they get steady amounts of calls all day and that they don't usually come in spurts. We have made test calls from the remote support office to busy out all lines on her phone and they all go through while testing with the last one hitting the mailbox. I have been unable to reduplicate that nagging every now and then call that just rings and don't hit the attendant.

This site is setup the same as about 20 other sites. I am sending a replacement DTI and COMBO to site to see if that helps.

Interesting problem! I just finished setting up the PRI on 6.2 and have a problem that only the first call rings the receptionist. My setup is same as yours, but I have 8 intercoms assigned to the extension. The second call never goes thru, it rings and gets picked by the AA after 4 rings. Do I need to replace any hardware? Any suggestions! Help is appreciatted. Thanks!

how many appearences of the target line do we all have set up on the recpt phone

ONLY 7 WEEKS TILL SKI SEASON STARTS

sorry let me finish up to 8 and up icoms to 8 then test

The latest is this. When i had a vendor go to site to install 2 POTS lines for me to use as a modem/RAD line and emergency line. He tested three lines that were still hot on copper that were ported to MCI's PRI. When I called Bellsouth, they are showing that they still own the lines, but they can only be used for outgoing calls since they come in on the PRI. I have opened a case with MCI to contact Bellsouth to have them disconnected since we can't have them coming in via 2 carriers. More to come shortly. IAm sure it will get better.

I have 8 intercoms assigned and I only get one call, the second one goes to AA, that is the problem I am having.

Dragand: Intercoms are not the same as appearances. You do not need to change your hardware, but it sounds as though you would benefit by getting a vendor on site. Appearance number is only one of the things that could be causing your particular problem.

The number of appearances will cause your issue. Look at the ring only setting on that extensions line assignment. It must be increased to more than one.

Phonesbrokehuh,

thanks for your help, I totaly forgot about that (I don't work with PRI that often). After increasing the number of appearencies, everything works. Thanks again.

P.S. Bkrike, thanks for the vendor on site suggestion, a friendly pointer in a right direction worked wonders this time, as it usually does.

Dragand: I assume you are trying to be sarcastic, but if you will notice my first suggestion was the solution to your problem.

Bkrike,

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, I am sorry if it looks that way. Both of the replies helped me solve the problem and I appreciate it. My refference to replacing the hardware was in relation to another posting, and was supposed to be funny, I guess it made me look like I absolutely don't have any clue about the phones.

After reading your reply as well as the one from phonesbrokehuh, I fixed the problem in less then a minute, that's what I was reffering to. Thanks for your help,

Dragand

I don't understand how having a vendor take care of the problem is never the right solution.
Something as simple as line appearance can be overlooked by someone unfamiliar to the system.
Bkrike was on the money with his first suggestion.
You have to wonder why that wasn't checked first.
