Hi All.

Something strange is happening, and I can't seem to see what the reason is.

I have a customer who has various locations throughout the city. When a call is made internally to an extension, the phone rings fine (when I say internally, I mean at the same location). When they call the extension from an off site location, the phone goes to the receptionist.

I have done a trace on the phone, with monitor, and I see an extension dialling the number, but never see any redirect. However, the customer tells me their receptionist picks up.

Any ideas as to where to look? I have verified they don't have call forwarding on...

Regards

The receptions DN could be the prime set for the trunks or also the Target lines. Take it out. You do have target lines built for each set?

Hi Cook.

Thank you for your help.

Yes there is a target line for this user, which appears on his phone.

His line is set up the same as all other users in that location (except for the obvious differences) . For giggles, I went and changed the prime set to his number, and when the 4 digit dialling is executed, it still goes to reception.

This problem may only be from one location in the group. I have a tech who will be on site at another place testing to see if it works fine from there. If it works fine from other sites the problem may be specific to the site the user currently is at.

any other ideas?

Hi All.

Just a little update... when I went digging deeper, I noticed that there was no Public received number under the target line.

I have put that in, and asked the customer to check from some other locations, as no one seems to be around or available when I call <sigh>.

Could this have been the reason?

Regards

Something is not to clear....

"and when the 4 digit dialling is executed, it still goes to reception."

So is the trouble calling his DN internally from another set, dialing the DN from external via AA or dialing the DID?.

If the DID then set the DID to Private to erase the DID programming from all or any sets, then set back to public and redo programming.
Make sure the set has enough intercoms or target appearances and check CFNA and CFB settings.

Have reception note exactly what shows on the display if happens again.

If you're just doing internal dialing between sites and you don't have MCDN, then you have to use the Public Received digits to direct the call.

Hi All.

Well got it fixed...

I had to add the 4 digit extension into public received number, like telcodog suggested. Now everything seems fine (or at least according to the customer it is fine <smile>)
