Hi!

I have a CallPilot 201i with SCSI (no USB) and it is failing to boot. The front screen says "HOST" and there is no VGA output. I'm thinking it is bad RAM but was there anything else I could try to diagnose the failure? I've already ordered some RAM from the usual online auction site, so hopefully it is the problem!

Thanks,
Andrew

Well it seems that re-seating the BIOS chip allowed the card to boot again.

I had the same situation a few weeks ago - it was a failing ide hard drive (one of the little 2.5" laptop hard drives ) I pulled it, bought a IDE to sata adapter, copied both partitions to a 120G SSD and managed to get it working again. (good thing; since the DVD rom drive took a crap so no installing from scratch) I did need to find 4 brass fine thread 1/4" standoffs in order to mount the SSD back in place of the hard drive due to the adapter needing a bit of room. It's all good now! and full backups take 10 mins less than before due to faster drive IO. Whew! glad that's done...
