Calling VDN to Audix

I've done a fair amount of searching Tek-Tips and Support.Avaya.com but have been unable to find the method by which to accomplish what I'm looking for.

CM3.0, EAS. We have about 20 VDNs that all end up in one Audix VM box after hours. However, as these calls are received in the Audix it's origin is not identified. Routinely we end up with 200-300 messages after the weekend that are deposited into Subscriber 7041, but no way to identify which VDN they originated with. I'd like to have the original VDN passed to Audix so we can identify what the call was originally placed to. We have a couple of people who use Message Manager to go through these voicemails, but each one is unidentified.

Is it possible to pass the original VDN through to the Audix so we can better organize and reply to calls left in Audix? Using "disp activity 7041" in Audix I get "CA message from unknown extension", so it's obvious that we're not sending the VDN number to Audix.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, in advance, for all efforts.

DJPlaZma,

how do you put messages into audix mailbox? using 'messaging' command in a vector or what?

Whew! I knew if someone would reply it'd be dwalin.

The vector step we're using is below:

Messaging skill 198 for extension 7xxx.

Another reason I'd like to have the calls identified when they hit Audix is because I'm getting errant calls dropped into the voicemail box during the business day when agents should be answering. If the calls were identified as to what the original VDN is it'd be much easier to trace.

If you need any more information drop me a line.

Thanks.

DJPlaZma,

no problem, i guess we're just not so far apart with respect to the time zones. :))
a stupid question: why don't you use 'messaging skill xx for extension active', where 'active' is the active vdn number for that vector? i think it's much easier to have a separate mailbox for all vdns involved than try to distinguish between messages in one mailbox.

p.s. i'm not sure when this 'latest/active' option appeared but i have a feeling it is here for quite a long time. i mean, what's your software version? :)

Dwalin,

I asked the same question about using "extension 7xxx" instead of "extension active", but it was quickly pointed out to me that all calls for this client (about 20 Toll Free numbers and VDNs) end up in the same mailbox. As it is now all calls that are deposited in the mailbox are completely unidentified, so you can't tell what VDN they started at. We don't have enough mailboxes available currently (an issue I'm constantly grappling with), so they all have to end up in one place.

Agree, too, about "latest/active". Either they snuck it in and didn't tell anyone or I was sleeping for that release!

Thanks!

DJPlaZma,

hmm. i see several ways to fool the audix but all of them require separate mailboxes and you don't have any spare. hmm. can you show your audix hunt group settings and an example vdns/vectors, straight from the did number to messaging? i feel something strange here and devil's always in the details.

It'd be rather extensive. Let me work on a way to do it so that it doesn't run on for days. All of these client's vectors get the same treatment. Give me a day or two...(tied up tomorrow) and I'll provide complete vec/vdn map.

...again, thanks.

DJPlaZma,

no thanks yet, nothing for. :)
show your audix hunt group for starters, it's just two pages and not much time. :) i want to be sure there's no problem with audix itself.

Can I just ask if you are using the modular messaging Audix and if so, what version it is?

DJPlaZma,

*sigh* nothing criminal in audix settings, i was afraid of that. so, i'll wait for vdns/vectors.

Sorry - cant help out with Intuity LX. With MM we have a similar scenario, and we check messages with Outlook. That then gives you a "Caller ID" of the VDN that comes in.

Good Luck with this one, as it will be a little difficult

Dwalin: My sentiments exactly as I've worked on this problem for quite some time...hoping some little, simple thing would make itself apparent. I'll follow up in a couple of days with the information you requested.

rjblanch: Thanks for offering up assistance, nonetheless. You did manage to get me to pin down what version of Audix we were using...and I agree...this will be a bit difficult.

Thanks...and more to come!

One question. You have "calling party number to Audix" stroked to 'Y" in the hunt group, but do you have this feature activated in the Audix itself? Not having it in Audix could be the issue, It was in 4.4 and 5.0, you should be on 5.1 something.
