Hi,

I've got a couple of phones that when you dial another set internally from them the name doesn't display. I've checked they've got CNDA & NAMA set in the CLS, as per the set shown below. Is there anything else I need to check?

My thought is a possible setting on the set they are ringing that doesn't allow caller name display, but I thought I'd ask before going back to the user in case I've missed something simple.

CLS - CNIA

I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away...

On the set that dials or the set where the name doesn't display?

Sorry if it's an obvious question, I got this system dumped on me ages ago & I'm trying to pick it up as I go along.

CNIA isn't really important unless you are a hotel and doesn't affect the name display on the phones.
But post the TN of the destination phone. My guess is they have DNDA and should have DNDD.
So caller may be dialing a phone that hunts or forwards to the destination phone and they are seeing the name of the dialed DN instead of the caller's name.

I'm awaiting a response from the user to find out what the dialled phones are, once I get that I'll post the TN from there.

I've been told it's just the correct DN of the dialling phone displayed rather than the name.

But did the caller dial the destination directly or did the call hunt or forward?

Directly as far as I'm aware, that was also on the list of questions I passed back to service desk to find out.

This issue came up when a team moved, wanted all the names changed & have come back to say two (out of about ten) didn't work.

You are getting information third hand. Probably if you tested it yourself there would be no problem.

That involves going to another site & *shudder* dealing with users...

They are long names, but what's the limit & how do I check that?

Change the name to something much shorter as a test. You can always put it back to longer.

My guess is the display just can't handle the length so it displays nothing instead.

How do I display the current setting for MXLN?
I've had a google about & can't seem to find the answer.

Thanks.

It's already set to 27. That should be ok as the two names are 18 & 20 char long.

I notice that my 1230 IP phones will only display 17 characters or less even though MXLN is set to 27. I thought I read this limitation somewhere but cannot find the documentation to support.

I'll take a look into that then cheers, as most of ours are old 2002P2s.

To update this, I've found time to do some testing & 2002P2s can only display 17 characters, as soon as I set a name longer than that (including the comma) the name doesn't display.

ie 'Christy,Hethering' works but 'Christy,Hetheringt' doesn't.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction epcompx2.
