We have a customer that since the beginning, requested for their IPO Essential Edition with 9508 phones to work like a key system, against our recommendation, we complied and the IPO and the customer have been very happy for years. The problem we have today is that the customer order an extra analog line that they want to ring on a single 9508 phone and they ordered call waiting with the service and actually want to use it. I only see one solution; offer them a standard analog phone and route the line off the IPO directly to the desk and they should be good to go unless there is a way to get a 9508 to mimic an analog phone connected directly to the analog line? Is there a way to set up the IPO to pickup a second inbound call via call waiting on an analog line?

Yup it does exist and yes it should allow to answer call waiting on lines. I always tell customers not to enable (or pay) for call waiting and when they are having issues(or annoyed by the call waiting indication) but say there is no call waiting I use that button to prove there is.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

It is nice to learn something new every day, thank you!! I am going to recommend they switch to SIP trunks to double their number of lines and for them to finally to start using the the PBX like that, like a PBX.

Drag them into the present... they will kick and scream at first but they will thank you later... unless the SIP provider is bad lol.

will said Critchey

Users insists on key-system operation do so because they know no better, once they experience the advantages of a will configured modern system they don't look back + there customers have a better experience a well (which is probably the thing to stress when trying to push them in the right direction)

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
