I have several customers who would like to call external callers back by using the call log, the problem is that the area code is included and therefore it includes those digits on a local call. Is there any way to edit these digits? We also have some phones that log external calls and some that don't. Thanks in advance for any help.

Add the numbers to your ARS.

E.g.
805XXXXXXX
Dial
N

By adding this does it strip off the area code before it sends out the digits? Adding this didn't work, do I need to add a 1 in front of the area code in the ARS?

Your logs should not include a 1 as the caller ID information doesn't. Unless you are using prefix in your Lines. If so then yes you need to use 1805XXXXXXX for example.

Adding 1 worked, thank you! Now while I have your attention, does the software version matter whether external calls are logged or not whether it be the system version or the phone?

Should not however there is an option to turn the log on and off on the phone.

Call appearance keys are required for call logging, so that may be your issue

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

A Call Appearance button is required period even when using Line Appearances. You can't make button 1 any apperance type other than a Call Appearance. And if you make button 1 anything other than Call Appearance you can't use any appearance type on any other button.

We have two call appearance buttons on each phone. I will give you a little more background: We are running a 412 4.0.14 we have 2 4625SW IP phones, external calls log fine on these phones. The rest of the phones are 5410-20's. They do not log external, just internal. We have two PRI's and DID's just like a system we just installed, 500- 4.2 all phones log external calls, any ideas? Thanks again for your help.
