hello everybody i'm kinda new to the definity system, and I need your help. the company i work for recently had a person quit and we need to be able to forward all calls from their extension to another one, this includes voicemail.

how do I go about doing this?

Hi the easiest way would be to a "call-fwd" (call forward button on his telephone. Press the call-fwd button and then dial the tel. no. you want to forward to - you will know it works if you get a stuttered dial-tone once you've entered the number.

Hope this helps,

Chris

the only problem with doing it like that is that somebody has already been assigned his office and old phone (with a new extension) is there another way to do this?

If you have already deleted the old station create it again as Type: 2500 and Port: X. If you haven't deleted it just go in and change the port setting to X. Do a 'disp fea'. Half way down the page you will see 'Call Forwarding Activation' with an associated code. You will have to forward from a phone with console permissions ('disp cos' fifth item set to yes) probably you're attendant console can do this, I have it set so they can and all the phones in my area can as well. Anyway, dial the code from a phone with console permissions, you will hear dial tone after entering the code, dial the extension of the user who is no longer with you, again you will hear dial tone, last dial the extension to which you want the calls to forward, you will then hear confirmation tone and now all the calls are forwarded. Remember, however, this will not fool the voice mail system. Calls for that extension will only go to the voice mail for that extension. Hope this is clear enough.

thanks alot that is very helpfull. so there is no way to allow calls that are forwarded to that extension go to the voicemail of the new extension?

i think that pretty much did it. i did have to edit the COS to get console access though. so is there a way to get the voicemail to go to that extension?

As far as I've seen from any of the systems I've worked on the switch is unable to send calls intended for one extension to the voice mail of another. I have seen situations where you can set the voice mail system to accept a message at one location and dump it into another (Centigram is very good at this) but you still have two greetings and passwords to worry about because you do still have two mailboxes. I have not yet had the time or real need to explore whether the Intuity can do this but from what I know so far there isn't really a way. You can set up a broadcast mailbox to broadcast to certain locations but those messages are recorded in a different way than your standard voice mail or call-answer message. If there is anyone out here with more information on how the Intuity might handle this I'd most assuredly be interested but again, from my experience, it can not perform that function.

I assume the old extension does need the same voicemail box as the new (I'll assume yes)? You can send the old extension to voice mail via a coverage path, that part is very easy. However some work needs to be done in the Intuity. Login to the Intuity. Change the subscriber form on the Intuity for the new extension. Put the old extension in the secondary extension field, it's on page 1. The voice mail box will now have the messages from the old and new extension. Make sure that you do not have fax enabled for the subscriber set to "Y", I think it's on page 2, or it will answer with a fax greeting. Another way to do this is to change the auto-attendant routing table and send the old ext to the new subcriber box also.
Hope this helps

Chris

thanks a ton guys, you have been very helpfull. i'll give it a try. wish me luck

If you are using a intuity the other option is to delete the box of the forwarding ext then use the command change auto routing this will allow you to have both extensions share the same extension. José

Please let me know if this was helpful
