I am trying to set up call forwarding off-network and having some difficulty. When our sales manager works from home, calls to her extension forwards to her residential number but it bypasses their home phone answering machine greeting and goes straight to the "beep". The greeting is not heard by the callers but they can leave a message after they hear the beep. She does not want to use the corporate voicemail but use her own residential answering machine. Thoughts?

First off this is a bad idea, the user would then have to remember to check multiple voice mail box’s.
Second, they can not transfer a voice mail to another employee to handle.
Third it is bad business practices, and should be done only if there is no other chose. A home answer machine does not have the same feel to the caller, nor the same functions.

EC500 works great to have a caller call one number and be able to be answer on a cell phone or any other programmed phone number.

Thanks David for your response. I have tried to talk them into using the EC500 feature but they are not conducive to change. This is a new solution for them as they just replaced a 28 year old Hitachi PBX and they are trying to mirror the features from that relic versus the real world technology they have at their fingertips. This particular situation may be better suited for IP Softphone instead. I am working that angle as well.

IP Softphone could be a good choice, the down side is that they have to keep a PC running the application for it to work.
And they need some sort of good network connect to your office, like a VPN.
