I have some users at a new remote site. When they set call forwarding active for their phones they are having some issues.

When you call their phone from another Avaya phone the call forwards properly (out trunk x) and rings their cell.

When you call externaly the call forwards correctly (out trunk x) but you hear a long pause and then a busy signal.

This is an S8720. The users are at a remote site. The remote site has a G700/S8300LSP. They users are all on 4621 IP phones. The trunk is terminated in G700.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can status what extensions are currently forwarded, by doing a li call-forwarding in the switch. It will tell you where the extension is forwarding to. They may be a digit off in the dialstring...

Thanks for the reply but thats not it.

As I stated the call forwarding works if I call them from another avaya phone. Only external calls are failing.

If the "call forward to" number was wrong they would all fail anyway.

I have checked the call forward number. It's correct.

does your system allow a trunk-to-trunk transfer? i think is on page one of the system-param features screen.

thanks, tim

Have you did a lis trac XXXX on the extension in question? That way you can tell where the problem may exist.

Thanks

Yes trunk to trunk is allowed (ALL) and yes I have done a trace on the stations in question.

The good and bad calls are identicle minus one step:

Proceed trunk-group 71 member 4

Avaya tried to tell me it was a feature issue but when I pushed back a little they couldn't tell me what feature.

It has since been escalated to Tier III. We'll see if they can come up with anything. I worked the TSO in Denver for 7 years. I'm fairly certain this isnt a feature issue.

When I duplicate a station having this problem (dup stations x as well as putting my phone in that location) it works fine for me. I use the same ars table I use the same routes and the same cor/cos/tenant.

The only difference is my phone is on this side of the wan his on on that side of the wan.

If it was a feature issue it wouldnt matter where my phone is it would behave the same way.

It might be an issue with your PSTN provider. When you make external call-forward it is usually kind of loop back connection (the call is coming in and coming out using the same trunk). Avaya PBX marks such outgoing call as "forwarded call" in signalisation channel and sometimes PSTN provider manages this call in wrong way.

Try to make a test and call these forwarded stations using difrent trunk for incoming.
