Call Forward External to Cell 2

Having a strange issue that according to my users "Recently started happening" I have made no changes to routing so I'm a little confused, here's the situation. Everyone used to be able to forward to their cell phone with prefixes 480 & 408, by putting in 9408xxxx as the number. Now it just gives them a fast busy after a little pause when you call the extension.

I have tried 91541408xxxx and 9408xxxx both have the same result of fast busy. The kicker is, I was able to forward to my cell phone which has a 633 prefix just fine, and you are able to call 9408xxxx's from his phone.

408 & 480 go out route 0 which is local copper, 633 is not in NXX. Why can I dial his cell from his phone, but can't forward external to it?

Add the 1+NPA in front of 7 digits you forward to. I suspect the Cell Company or Telco changed trunk group settings. I've had this happen lots of times. For some reason, adding the NPA will help, either because it takes a different route, or because all parties see all 10 digits....not sure. Even over the same trunk route out of my switch, this had made a difference. And, even if it is in my _own_ NPA.

I have tried this, I have tried forwarding to 91+541+408xxxx & 9408xxxx. Same result, no ringing, pause, fast busy.

is npa 541 a long distance number from POV of the phone attempting to call it, if not try 9541nxx...

From the station, 408-XXXX is local. I have tried forwarding it to 91541408XXXX,9408XXXX & 9541408XXXX. They all do the same thing.

Well, all of the those prefix digits (541, 1541, etc) after "9" need to be in BARS... I guess we have to assume your testing is valid in that respect.

NXX 633 works from your phone. 91541408xxxx and 9408xxxx both have fast busy.

541-408 is Verizon Wireless
541-480 is Verizon Wireless
541-633 is Sprint, TMobile and Qwest

Since you made no changes, that pretty much says "something changed outside of your PBX"...and probably in Verizon. What you could do is change BARS for those NXXs so it takes a different route out of your PBX. In other words, get that call off of your PRIs and onto some analog otherwise, a different set of trunks.

I'm sure you could resolve this by changing your PRI config too...but at what cost or inconvenience factor. I've also seen problems like this disappear over time - some other cause has a new effect and poof, it works.

Verify that CLS: CFXA is enabled on that set.

This makes a lot of since. Verizon Wireless is taking over a company called Unicel in this area. These numbers were originally Unicel numbers so I'm thinking Verizon changed something. It's weird though because my 633 number was originally T-Mobile but was converted over to Unicel, I figured it wouldn't work either.

It's just weird that I can call the number fine, just not CFX to it.. any explanation for that?

I suspect it is "Call Type" information being sent along with the call over the PRI. When you dial direct, it's one "Call Type" but if you CFW, the call type from the caller does not penetrate your system and get sent along the outgoing call

Thats why I thing getting it off PRI (just for these NXXs) will be a quick fix.

These NXX calls are going over Route 0, which is copper though.

I think for *us* to take it further, we need this printed. However you may not need to post it all if you are certain it adds up. Post the solution if you do find it, otherwise, post whatever you are uncertain about from...

What type of COT trunks are these? Ground Start? If Ground Start, make sure SUPN is set to NO.

I believe they are ground start, where can I find this SUPN field? What does it do?

GHTROUT: Just so I know, what does this field do?

The best way to describe it is:

CFO = Call Forward Originating: Take the CLS and NCOS from the trunk to determine restrictions when a phone is CFW'd

CFF = Call Forward Forwarded: Take the CLS and NCOS from the phone to determine restrictions when that phone is CFW'd

If you print your COT trunk in Ld 20, you will see the prompt SUPN set to either YES or NO. This deals with Supervision. If they are ground start, ensure they are set to SUPN = NO. You make the change in LD 14. You make the change GHTROUT suggests in LD 15.

You know, it might be worthwhile printing a sample trunk out. I'd want to see CLS DTN also.

Also interested in what Route 43 is. I suspect it's some Centrex lines that require an added "9" to get out.

Is it possible that Route 0 is all locked out and all along you have been using Route 43?

Is there a Route 43 with working trunks?

I have changed the SUPN on all ground start trunks to NO. Ensured that all trunks has a CLS of DTN. I also made the CLS CFF change.

Route 43 are T1 ties to another site. I'm waiting for my contact to call me back so I can see if these changes made any difference. I'll report back as soon as I know. Here are are the trunk members & a sample COT trunk.
