It seems from past posts that the ability to call cascade or the ability to accept/reject calls being forwarded and passed along to someone else off-site (ie, cell phone) is just out of reach for the IP office system for now and some time in the future.

Has anyone used any 3rd party devices that work with the IP office to specifically handle the following scenerio:
Call enters system. Person leaves message. IP Office notifies on-call person #1. #1 doesn't respond in X minutes. System notifies person #2. #2 doesn't respond. System notifies person #3. #3 responds (checks message).

The same thing could be done with a person on hold if the system would allow a * or # to accept or reject the call.

I'm sure others have had this request. What are some good solutions? Any ideas?

Anyone have any input? Anyone at all?

Sounds like a job for an IVR, or with some careful planning - a TAPI based program. A TAPI program can create a call from a designated extension and transfer the call to a voice mail node / shortcode / whatever after the call is answered, or call another destination if the call is not answered. If you want to use more than one extension you can dedicate several computers (or virtual machines) and extensions for it or you can get a Dev Link Pro license and control your entire IPO.

As for an IVR system, a cheap solution can be Asterisk, however it will require free extensions / VCMs / trunks on you IPO and additional hardware if you do not have VCMs free for it.

You can use a partner system attached to a ext on the phone system to do this. I believe there are some posts on this form about this. Also Release 4.0 which is comming first Quarter of 2007 has this on its list of things it will introduce. Until then you kind of have to limp along using an outside solution such as the partner attached to the ip office.

This is exactly the feedback for which I was hoping! I'll read up on the Asterisk. In the meantime, are there readily available TAPI based programs? Have you implemented any?

There are no ready made TAPI programs as far as I know, you need to write something on your own. I wrote a couple for our clients, once you get the hang of it it's fairly simple.

Hi icmpman,

Having tried to find a solution to this for quite a while with limited sucess, we decided to write an application. I am currently developing a TAPI application to do exacly as you described but also with more detail i.e Time Stamp, CLI, Application Logging, DTMF collection to accept, reject etc. The application should be ready in a couple of weeks. If you are still interested, leave me your contact details.

I'm interested. kris dot guntzelman at realworldtime dot com.

Thanks.

Sorry all not been on for a few days.

I am surprised nobody has come up with this before - it always seemed a much requested feature.

Thanks for the interest guys. I have got all your addy's.

I know that this is planned for version 4 (1st Quarter 2007). But the reason we decided to go ahead is because we have a few customers with significant inventment in INDeX kit (Media Gateway) with a requirement for this.

Like I said we are a few weeks away yet, but I will mail you all soon with more info

Would you go ahead and email me your contact info? I'd like to correspond with you further about this.. perhaps even talk. I wonder if we may be able to team up on this... one of my programmers could spend a little time on it, or we could help beta test or troubleshoot, etc. Not sure what your plans are... to sell/donate this to the community or what, but I'd like to discuss with you. Would you please email me?

Regards,

If your techs have email on their cell phones, create a group, set VM to broadcast, turn on VM. This will attach the VM and send an email to their cell phone email account. Everyone in group gets email, so create users without exts, enter their cell phone email under the email field, and activate vm to em. These would be phantom users just for this purpose so exclude them from the directory by checking the box on each users to exclude from directory.
In the phantom user VM boxes in vmpro, create a leave message start point to thier normal vm box in case someone gets to this box by mistake.

It does not address your issue, but may communicate to your techs a need to respond if you have cell phones with email.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

I have sent all those interested a mail with a bit more detail on the TAPI app.

bobbdeep you've not left your mail address.

Here's mine if you need anymore info
