Hello Everyone,
Working on another long term issue. At random times calls come into our main # and hit a meridian mail voice tree. They are directed to press 0 to get a live operator. At times when they select 0 they get a recorded message that the call cannot be completed at this time. Any idea's... I did not think Meridian Mail had anything like this built in and since the call has already been answered and is being transferred through the voice tree it should not be a network message (Verizon). At least imo (newbie here)... I have called our vendor in and we have checked all the T's with Verizon and cannot find anything wrong. Our vendor is not sure what's going on at this time either...

Thanks,
NortelOpt61

Sorry forgot some details:
Nortel Option61c
Release 3

Meridian Mail ver: 13.13.1

I have checked to see if all the ports are in use and it does not appear to be the issue. Besides it should ring till answered if I am not mistaken.

I have never heard that recording coming from a Nortel. How are you sure that it has been answered by the PBX?

Hello Phonz1,
Yes, you get the voice tree recording and it provides you your options, press 0 to be transferred to a live operator and when you make the choice you get the message saying the call cannot be completed at this time.

Thanks,
NortelOpt61

That message can come from the Mermail. Does it happen every time on that application?

Hello a12ozbottle,
When it happens yes, I have only been able to get it to happen to me 2x.

Thanks,
NortelOpt61

Have you checked to see if the phone you are sending it too is busy when the problem occurs, could be a forwarding issue.

Hello a120zbottle,
It is being forwarded to dn 1000 which is our switchboard operator. It should end up in her queue of calls and receive a message like that.

Thanks,
NortelOpt61

When you press "0" on the Meridian Mail voice menu does it dial "0" or does it dial another extension? If it dials another extension is hunting set up? If "0" goes to the console (2250) might it be in a night mode when you get that recording? Just some area's to look at.

If you are routing and it comes up against the forwarding for the console, you are getting the correct recording from mermail.

Mermail, and the switch will not perform a double transfer. It is design intent on the system.

John

Is the Operator phone a 2250 or a phone?

are you sending the Dial 0 to DN 1000 or 0 in the Voice Tree?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Hello AceWarlock,

The operator is on a M2250,and yes we are sending the dial 0 to dn 1000 in the tree.

Thanks,
NortelOpt61

If a person dials 0, does it go to the Recpt?

I think what is happening is the call goes to 1000 and Recpt is busy on the Console so the call can't complete and you get the message. If you sent it to 0, then it would apper on one of the LOOP KEYS just like any call and be put in Queue just like any call would.

I just listened to it and realized the message does not tell you to hit 0 to get an operator like the sheet say's. Basically it says if no selection is made you will transferred to an attendant. Which the revert DN is 1000 for our switchboard operator. I know the default option is 0 for attendant revert. I can be on the phone and call the operator on 0 or 1000 and still be able to call from another line and not get the recording. Any idea's?

Thanks again everyone.

Post the TNB of the 2250.

The recording is coming from the mail because it is having an issue transferring the call. When you call from a phone directly to the attendant, even if the call was blocked, you would not hear the message.
