Hello

My understanding is that the Call Attendant license is linked to the MAC address of the server it is running on. I have to replace the motherboard of the server, as the on board NIC has gone bad. I have tried using a card, but when I try to check voicemail, all there I get is a busy signal. Where in Call Attendant do I make the change of the NIC to be used?

Thanks

If you're referring to One-X Attendant, then yes, it is licensed through PLDS. PLDS licenses are generated against the MAC address of the license server hosting the license - which in the case of a One-X Attendant installation can be a co-resident instance running on the PC.

A good practice back in the day was to buy a cheap-o PCI NIC card and license against that so you wouldn't have this problem!

Odds are that you'll need to rehost your license for One-X Attendant, and probably through your business partner. Ideally, having old sales order numbers, Avaya SAP orders, and license activation codes would help - but with a little searching, they should be able to find it with just the old MAC address - which might just be printed on the old motherboard.

If you're running CM6 or anything else that uses a WebLM, you can license the Attendant to that MAC and point your application there so you're not dependent on a particular piece of hardware on an end user's desk managing your licenses.

If you are on CM6+ or using a product licensed through WebLM (via PLDS) then you can probably log in to PLDS and regenerate the license yourself to an new MAC address/license host. You can also pay a partner - they usually charge an hour or so to do something like this.

I am using Call Attendant, which is probably old. Sorry for my ignorance, but what is PLDS? I appreciate any help you guys give.

Oh shoot sorry I assumed 1X Attendant - my bad. Ignore my advice. I've never heard of Avaya Call Attendant
