I have a phone set with a phone ext. assigned and then a courtesy phone in the same office and I want the courtesy phone to have no call-appearances and just bridged extensions. I press enter and ASA tells me 'can't remove call appearance with bridged appearances assigned' and it won't take the changes. Why is that happening.. I know I have this on other phones working this way.

This phone (where you're making change) would have a bridge appearance set to some other phone. Check "li usa ext xxxx" to see where is it used & you'll have the answer.

Every phone requires to have it's own identity. You must have an extension assigned to the courtesy phone. You can bridge the other phone's extensions on the courtesy phone, but it will still need at least one appearance of it's extension also.

koglass,

That is not true. I have some 2402 phones in a warehouse that I have provisioned in the switch as 2410's, removed their call appearances, and put bridged appearances of the warehouse managers extension in the first two button assignments on the phone. When someone calls the warehouse manager's extension, all of the phones provisioned this way ring and any one can be picked up to answer that call.

yes cellrebral, but just try and TTI that phone in or out, that has no call-appearances, it's impossible. It best to always put at least 1 call appearance on a phone, even if its hidden somewhere, otherwise, like I said, its impossible to move the phone around with TTI commands.

I suppose a 2402 is an exception, since it only has 2 buttons, so you don't have any place to hide it... just remember, you won't be able to move those phones with TTI commands until you change back at least 1 button to a call-appr....

The fact that you can't tti a phone unless it has a call-appearence of it's own extension is not the same as "Each phone requires it's own identity". You just have to remember that you can't TTI a bridged-appearence only station unless you make ASA changes to it first.
