This just recently began. I'm using ArcServe 2000 Advanced Edition, and the Exchange Backup Agent, on Exchange Server 5.5, doing a Brick Level Backup.

I keep getting the same errors nearly every day:

(sample from log)

20030103 033904 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\Wilkner, Alicia\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)
20030103 033907 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\ExchangeAdmin\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)
20030103 033907 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\Brower, Erika\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)
20030103 033907 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\Lim, Ellen\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)
20030103 033908 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\EL\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)
20030103 033908 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\Camp, Diana\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)
20030103 033908 133 E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\Williams, Kathy\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".)

Any suggestions or fixes willbe welcomed.

I had the same problem, upgraded the agent then installed the patch and the errors stopped. In fact all looks fine from the job log. But when I checked the dbaexchg2.log I see the following:

<01/31/03 14:22 PID:703 TID:722> Warning: One or more messages in folder Inbox is not backed up correctly.
<01/31/03 14:23 PID:703 TID:722> ReadReference..(): WARNING! not enough space in cacheBuffer for 64K data. The rest part will be read in later.

I will post this as a new thread but thought you may want to check it out.

Where did you find the Exchange Agent upgrade? I can find the patch Q022840 but I can't find the agent patch. Will the Exchange 2000 agent patch work with Exchange 5.5?

Hello Bluechips!!
i am getting the same error as you. I am running ARCServe 2000 w/the ARCServe 2000 exchange backup agent on exchange. I keep getting this message "e8602 FAILED TO READ FROM DATABASE (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\(user mailbox)\(mailbox), EC=BACKUP AGENT ERROR --(69) "Read/Write error in named pipes."). So have you solved the issue yet, if so, what was the solution. Please help.!!

thanks
